Q: I drive a 1995 Acura integra ls model I'm mechanically inclined just not enough to do a headgasket (more patience wise) my car loses coolant once in every 3 weeks it starts to over heat. I don't have white smoke coming out of the exhaust or milky oil. Everything else runs smooth on my car. I've head it pressure tested and every thing else checks out so I'm kind of lost. All hoses are fine and not leaking and there is no coolant leaks showing up on the ground. Any ideas?
You are probably right about the water pump leaking, Of course you wont see it until you remove that cover and put a pressure tester on it... Sometimes they leak better with no pressure on them, Kind of like the piddle valve on the radiator cap.
Q: After reaching a height of 50 feet , there should be enough pressure to hose around 20 to 30 feet of water from it for curing concrete structure ex: columns, slab area etc. How many inches ( diameter ) of rubber hose is required to plug the water pump for pumping water ?
hp list of water pumps
Q: how can i put in a water pump for a1994 bonniville sse?
ask the car nicely
Q: The water pump in my trecel is damaged and i need to take it to a shop that's about 20 minutes away from my house will turning on the heater and adding coolant help me to get the car there without damaging the engine
If you have electric fans to cool the radiator down you can turn on the airconditioning or the defrost which will make the fans run continuously keeping the water cooler for a longer period of time
Q: I had my timing belt replaced @ 80k (now have 138k) and was told by new mechanic that the water pump was not replaced then. Do I need to have pump replaced? What will happen if I don't? Thx
Pump is leaking if you see water, other than A/C under car or coolant is constantly getting low. If water pump goes car will over heat and can leave you stranded. If you are not going to keep car for more than a year don't worry about either unless pump is bad. If pump is bad just change the pump. No need to pay for timing belt if your not going to keep car. If Mech. scared you get a second opinion or take your Dad with you because some people will try and take advantage of females about cars, and I did say some not all.
Q: Ok i was wondering which is the from hose off of the motor the bottom or top since i thinl my heater core hose are reversed and i only get nuke warm air and not hot and yes ive got a brand new heater core, new anti freese, new thermostat and gaskets and all hoses are clear and not rust in the system
IIRC it's just like the v8 chevys. Bottom rad hose is out of rad, into pump. Top rad. hose is out of engine, into rad.
Q: How does a pump get water from a low low elevation to a higher elevation.
The simplest form of water pump is a plastic spiral where the outermost spiral dips under the water and out as it rotates. The spiral can be driven by attached paddles if the water is flowing. As the water progresses down smaller spirals the pressure increases. The water exits through a rotating coupling at the centre of the spiral. A single stage pump can only raise water 15 feet (1 atmosphere) A windmill is a good example of a simple pump where a lever moves up and down, A valve closes at the bottom of a tube on the up stroke and raises the water by the length of the stroke. This water opens a second valve near the top of the tube as soon as the upstroke starts and the water is pushed up. This pump does not work by creating a vacuum. On the downstroke the upper valve closes due to the raised water pushing on it, and also due to its own weight, and the lower valve opens from the water below pushing on it as the cylinder descends. At the end of the downstroke the valve closes under its own weight and the weight of the water above it and the cycle repeats To raise water higher than 15 feet using a windmill, it is necessary to install a small tank at, say 14 feet, with a second lower and upper valve in a tube. The first stage pump fills the tank which the second stage pump then lifts another 15 feet, This process can be repeated until the water reaches the surface, but a bigger windmill will be needed to power multiple pumps
Q: Where can I get a solar powered water pump for a sprinker? I want the pump to pull water out of a river next to my yard and water my garden and lawn.
This project may be very poorly considered. Solar power is costly on a capital cost per watt basis. You would want to use that costly power to do things for you all year round, not just when your garden needs water. For any pumping role, your solar panels will not provide good starting ability, particularly when the sun comes up. You will need battery power to build up some charge to start the motor under pumping load. Your system then has to be designed not to try to start the pump when there is not enough charge. Late in the day, or when the sun wanes, you also need to have the pump stop running if the voltage drops too low. It just waits for the battery to regain charge, You will get more water delivered in drip mode than via sprinkler, and with less sunlight. Sprinklers will waste at least 30% of the water and 45% of the energy. If you use an inverter between battery and pump, you can use cheap ac pumping motors, but additionally you can use the power in your house. If your only application of power is pumping, and you are far from neighbours, you might want to consider using a wind turbine, as it will give more kwh per dollar. But in the village, and powering household uses, solar is a good alternative.
Q: I have a 1994 Plymoth Grand voyager and it is loosing anti freeze it was a little leak now I can't see it leaking but it is empty could it be the water pump? It does get hot now. what other things happen when your water pump is going out does the heater not get hot anymore?
If okorder /.. This site will help you determine if the pump is going out. Question: is there an intense sweet smell? If so, your head gasket(s)may be where the leak resides. Most of the leak would burn from the hot engine causing the sweet smell. Does your vehicle overheat? How fast does the coolant drain? Due to cramped space for a minivan, I can understand how you can't see it leaking.
Q: Okay, i have a 1997 dodge stratus with a 2.4l motor, recently i was out early in the morning when i heard what sounded like a loud whining noise, i quickly pulled over and killed the motor. Turns out the teeth were stripped off the timing belt and the water pump busted. How much would this cost to get it fixed, and what is the possibility the engine may be damaged? Also would it be worth fixing it, or just selling it for parts? Oh yeah, the car has 176k miles
yes its probably worth fixing ,you shouldn't have no engine damage to it because that one doesn't run an interference engine ,all that should have to be done is new pulleys and a water pump, and new timing belt kit put on it,all of this will cost around 3-400 bucks though for everything, but its probably worth repairing, you cant buy a good car for 400 bucks, and if it ran well before then it should be alright once you get it repaired, good luck with it i own on of those and their good cars.
