- You can pay outright for a sofa but I don't think you can give them cash. They never gave me the option to anyway. A cheque or debit transaction is fine. So you can pay in a lump sum or over a period of X amount of years. I just brought a Dfs sofa and they are a bunch of con artists. I waited four months for delivery and then my sofa wouldn't fit through the front door (it's a regular-sized door - I don't know what castles they've been delivering to) so I refused the delivery (didn't fancy building an extension around the sofa). Went back at the weekend and they refused to give me my money back! They said they manufactured the sofa in good faith and I have to choose another one. So I ended up paying another ?300 for a more expensive sofa - a sofa which is delivered with its back unattached and they fix the two parts together in the house (so this more expensive sofa *will* fit through the door; funny that). Now I'm having words with a lawyer to see if I can get the difference knocked off my new sofa. So anyway, my point is... if there is any - any - option you can take which allows you to NOT pay until the sofa is safely in your home then take it. I'm not taking about credit either - the contracts are also legally binding. See if you can work out a debit arrangement, where the money is taken out of your bank ONLY after the sofa has been delivered. If they don't do that, find a place that does.

- wash the sofa and you'd better bring the sofa out of the room. You can wash using regular detergent or if you have any special cleaning the couch, use it. Stir the mixture of detergent and water until frothy.

- Sofa beds are not all that comfortable for daily use and you will not be able to add or squish a memory foam topper mattress into the sofa bed folding mechanism. Consider this. A trundle bed. This is a bed that appears to be a single mattress (39 wide by 76 long) by day. You can have it pushed up against the wall and use wedge bolsters so it can be used as a seating area while company is over. Under the bed is a pull out mechanism that allows the bed to double in size or just use the bed as it and sleep on a single mattress. You will never be happy with a sofa bed over the course of time as they are not built for daily use. Think about it, any mattress that folds in thirds without a box spring cannot be very good for constant nightly use.
- Q:I'm trying to find new covers for this sofa but I don't know the make of it so it's proving very tough....It's creamy yellow, has buttoned up removable covers, the buttons run up the center of it's back and it has some on it's front at the base, it measures 92cm deep, 205cm wide and 75cm high. - I would venture to guess that it's a custom slipcover. If you don't see tags on the inside of it and it fits like a glove then my thinking is probably accurate. As for the sofa. Under the sofa should be information...Stamped to the wood or on a label as to the origin of the sofa...Have a look.

- Call your local charity and see if they will pick it up. Even if its not in good shape, there might be somebody out there that could use a sofa. If your local charity can't help try calling youth groups in your area or local churches. Somebody probably needs the couch. Try running an add in a local paper offering the couch for free if somebody comes and picks it up.

- Sounds like you have a problem. Call the store you ordered from and explain the situation right away, maybe they have a smaller simmilar sofa or will cancel the order as I'm sure they don't want delivery men spending a lot of time trying to push a sofa through a door and returning same to them.
