Does the soft plushy type of leater scratch easily? Also..if we went w/ fabric, we should probably go w/ the slate blue color as close to the recliner as possible, yes? Or would going w/ a tan/darker tan/khaki color not look right? Our carpet is tan.
- You could get leather, as leather will go with anything. However, there are a lot of styles and qualities of leather sofas. If you have a lot of kids and pets, I would wait on the leather. Go to a furniture store and look at what they have. Most stores have a designers section where you can check out fabric samples. I would suggest getting a durable fabric with a high # rating that will last for years and... get one that is in a print with lots of different colors (easier to hide spills and stains).

- This is a really difficult task to accomplish even if you had some previous upholstery experience. The advice that anyone can give you without seeing your furniture might not be 100% accurate because different skills or techniques are required for different detailing. Piping and trim might or might not be required, your sofa might or might not have a skirt, roll arms are treated slightly differently than square arms or your model might even have wood arms, if the seat is one large cushion you have a different task ahead than if there are 2 or three smaller seat cushions... If you are determined to try this on your own, which I wouldn't recommend, go to your local library or bookstore and find some good books on reupholstering -- you can bookmark all the pages that are relevant to your situation, and keep it in front of you for visual reference while working. Having sofas reupholstered is quite expensive and not always worth it, to be honest. The fabric and other items required to reupholster a sofa often exceed $400 (not including labour). Repairing springs or sofa feet increases the cost even if you're doing it yourself. It doesn't make sense to spend $400 or more to reupholster an older sofa that you can replace with a new one of similar quality for $700. Good luck!

- The only thing that would remove old tea stains from fabric would be bleach. A thorough scrubbing with a detergent and bleach would be the solution, if the fabric is able to be bleached without ruining it. I fail to see the reason your boyfriend can't be around the sofa, unless he is allergic to stains??

- Q: I bought a BONDED LEATHER sofa not leahter it is made from leather scraps ans I guess bonded together. Does anyone own one and how good are they? They are chepaer then leather sofas and they came out about year 2007. By the way no smart blank blank answers.
- I know several people who have them, and they are very happy with them. They are made from leather, so they will have all of the same great qualities, just more seams to be aware of. - Whatever you do, DO NOT GET MICROFIBER!!! It is also called Microsuede. The saleman or woman might try to lie and tell you that it is very cleanable and further advise you to get it stain-proofed for added protection. I did that and I have five kids. My sofa set is only a year or so old and it watermarked whenever something got on it and I tried to clean it or if something spilled on it. You can't get the stains out and there's no way to steam clean it at all so once food or drinks get on it, it's done...
