- Yes, you absolutely can. You would probably want to use a polyester casting resin and a mold. Jewelry molds would work well to make a pendant, like in the link, as long as you get an appropriate size to fit the bug. As far as the colorfastness of the butterfly itself, that I don't know. But there are lots of people that make bug jewelry, like the 'theinsectworld' link. I do agree you should steer clear of the super glue. I have painted moth wings with polycrylic and had good results as far as durability, so maybe prep the insect by doing that. Very gently and with a soft brush, of course. Good luck!

- Wood sealant wont set solid in depth like resin. Resin has a special hardener, which allows it to solidify all the way through. If you just need to toughen up a sculpture in another material, the sealant will work fine, but if you want to apply it in bulk you will need to go for the resin, as the time needed to build enough thin layers of the sealant would be excessive. It really depends on what finished effect is desired, the materials of your piece etc.

- Use only mfg recommended colorant for your specific resin. I've already made all the typical mistakes for you!! I once tried paint colorant, concrete colorant, paint, all of it. IF the resin sets after inandating it with forgien compounds the colors were way dull , they faded quick, and in many cases it ruined my resin and the stuff never finished kicking off and was gooey forever. - Q: Resin pigments are too expensive so I googled some cheaper alternatives. Some people recommend using oil colors and some acrylic. Dunno, mixing acrylic paints in resin doesn't sound right to me. I already have both acrylic and oil colors but this is my first time working with resin so your answer will save me from making some rookie mistakes.
- Superglue is fine for resin. For preparing Forgeworld miniatures, you should have a good craft knife and a razor saw as the minimum. Resin dust is carcinogenic, so you will also need to wear a dust-mask and work in a well-ventilated area when prepping. All resin miniatures need to be washed in warm, soapy water prior to painting. The high level of detail on FW miniature in particular makes them prone to excess material, flash and mould lines and you should carefully inspect each model as you clean it. I personally do any sawing at the same time as cleaning in the water. This not only softens the resin to make sawing easier, it also keeps the dust wet, preventing it from flying around, making a mess or getting into lungs it shouldn't.
