- Q: I am looking for some answers when it comes to soldering wires. Lets say I am using 6 to10 (22 AWG 2 conductor wires) and I want to solder those to 1 wire for power source and 1 wire for ground. Now lets say soldering 10 wires to 1 wire for power and 10 wires to 1 wire for ground. All the wires are the same AWG guage. Now that the wires are twisted together and soldered to the hot and ground source, by doing this will I actually make a resistor or change the amperage or reduce the voltage by soldering so much wires together to a 1 wire source? The power source I am using is 12 Volts. If anyone knows of anywhere I can find this information online, etc, I would appreciate it.
- it will effect the voltage because it will split the power 10 defferent ways. i dont know any website that will tell you this but there is a tester that you can get to test the voltage. thats how i found out.

- Q: Quick question with hopefully an easy answer. I had a dimmer switch go bad on a light in a dining room. I bought a new switch and put it in. It was working fine, so I thought, then I noticed that when the dining room light is off, the dimmer works on everything else on the circuit, for example outside lights, hall lights, etc. I can dim all of those things when this switch certainly didn't do that before. Also, if the dining room light is on, all of the other things on the circuit I mentioned before do not work at all. I've obviously incorrectly wired the switch somehow, any thoughts on what I did incorrectly and how to fix?
- Your switches are wired so that they can both control the light. That is: you can turn it ON with switch 1 and turn off with switch 2, and vice-versa. These are called two-way switches. They have three wires connected to each switch to enable this clever stuff to happen. Your dimmer switch has two terminals because it is a conventional one-way switch and intended to be used all on its own. It not possible to convert the conventional dimmer switch into a two-way switch and it would be almost impossible for you to convert the circuit to use a 2-way switch in conjunction with the dimmer. You won't be able to buy a two-way dimmer for domestic use. Sorry, but you want to do is impossible without some very specialised knowledge and expensive kit, It's not practical for domestic circumstances. The best thing you can try is to get an adaptor to plug into the light socket which will act as a dimmer. The bulb plugs into the bottom of the adaptor. The pair of two-way switches will operate as normal and the adaptor device will do the dimming for you. These things usually have a remote control to work the dimming circuit. Cost about ?15-?29. Try the better electrical shops such as Maplin or John Lewis. EDIT. They are not three-way switches like TJ suggests. These are different things entirely. You would have three of them and even more wires behind them. The dimmer switch does not operate by reducing voltage like another person suggests. They are not simple variable resistors. Dimmer switches contain special circuits which modify the alternating current waveform. This is one reason why they cannot be used with energy-saver bulbs or transformer-fed low voltage bulbs.
- Q: How does this work? Does the missile drag a wire?
- In a wire guided missile system, the missile drags out a wire, or one is spooled out from within the missile, this wire is connected to a targeting system, which is being controlled by an operator from the launch point of the missile. For most systems, as long as the operator maintains a line of sight on the target throughout the flight of the missile, then it will hit wherever the crosshairs are from the targeting system.
- Q: When I am wiring my sub to my amp, what gauge of wire should I use? The sub is 750 rms and the amp is 700 rms. And how do I wire a 2 ohm sub DVC to a 2 ohm stable amp?
- I would use 12 gauge wire. You want to hook the positive wire from your amp to one coil's positive, and the negative to the other coil's negative and then make a jumper to connect the other two posts to each other. Hope this helped
- Q: But I want to switch it and wire the red ceiling wire to the black fan wire and the black ceiling wire to the black/white fan wire so that the particular switches work the way I want them to. Is this ok, to switch them?
- Black wire on the fan is for the fan motor, red wire in the fan is for the light, the white wire is the neutral wire. So if you do want to switch the light off and on you have to tie red wire to the switch and the black wire can be tied to the hot at the ceiling box so you can control the fan with the chain only. If you have one switch leg in your circuit then you cannot do anything but switch them both if you tie them together. I think I am understanding what you are saying here. White Alyse ties to white Black is for the fan motor and the red is for the light. If you have three wires in the switch then you can tie them the same way color to color. Hope this has not confused you You can email me if you need further help
- Q: im gettin a amp and sub for my car and was wondering how would i make a wiring kit for it ... i have basic knolage of wires but thats about it thanks in advance
- the wiring kit is usually: - low gauge cable of certain length (x2) - rca cable of a certain length (x1) - small power connect cable (x1) seeing as these things are already pretty much in their simplest form, I don't see the practicality of making your own wiring kit. just buy one.
- Q: i need to know if my wires are hooked up right
- You didn't give us much to go on. There are at least 5 different color combinations in 10 conductor control wire I know of. There may be more that I've never used. Or your installer may have used two 5 conductor wires dropping of two for your T-stat.
- Q: I bought a cheap amp wiring kit so the ground wire is not the same size as the power wire but my friend gas me an extra piece of 8 gauge wire same as mine if i put both of these to on at the same time would it help out any? also he gave me some audio cable like the wires inside are twisted to gather the box says it gives you better sound quality would they make a difference in sound that the one's i have on there know? Thanks
- NO, you need to buy thicker wire because electricity follows the path of least resistance which means if one of the wires is 1/8 of an inch longer than the other, that is the wire the most electricity will flow through, as far as the speaker wire it wont make a difference unless it is thicker than what you already have installed (its very hard to tell the difference in sound quality even with very high quality speakers
- Q: A vertical straight wire carrying an upward 14.2 A current exerts an attractive force per unit length of 7.80E-4 N/m on a second parallel wire 7.60 cm away. What is the magnitude of the current that flows in the second wire?
- For a current I1 = 14.2 Amperes and radial separation between wires r =0.076 m, the magnetic field at wire 2 is B =0.000037368 Tesla If current I2 = 21 Amperes then the force per meter is F/ΔL =0.000784 Newtons/m hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hba... Goodbye
