Q:I have a new apartment with wood floors and need to soften up part of it for sitting, yoga, stuff like this. I love Persian rugs but can't afford one. I'm wondering, what about an area rug that is basically carpet you would find in somebody's house... only not installed or glued to the floor. Just a roll of carpet. I don't know the terminology. This doesn't have to be fancy. What is the best way to go about getting such a thing? Do carpet stores have surplus carpeting laying around if you don't particularly care about style or size? Thanks for any replies.
I'd get a knockoff Persian before I'd get carpet remnants, but most stores keep leftovers. Call and ask.
Q:we are trying to remove the old carpets in my house. you see last year, are air conditioner broke and leaked fluid all over the hallway carpet, and now we're trying to remove them. how do you do it with out ruining the floor below.
Go to a corner and simply pull up the carpet. It is probably attached by a tack strip.....a strip of wood with slanting nails to hold the carpet. Remove all of the carpeting and then all of the padding underneath. A dust mask is a good idea while doing this. If you intend to send the carpet out with the trash, cut strips no larger than 4 feet and roll the strips up into tight tubes and tie with string. Last, remove the tack strip. The tack strip has been nailed down. A small nail every 6 inches or so. Remove the strip carefully. If you need to pry, use a piece of the padding or carpet under your pry bar so as not to dent the flooring. You will have some nail holes in the flooring from the tack strip, but this is close to the wall and so it won't be too noticeable. Know that you probably have water damage on the flooring from your leak and you may need to have the floors refinished. Good luck!
Q:I am currently in the process of switching apartments need some quick/cheap ways to remove old and hard as heck to remove stains from my carpet, so that the management won't make me pay for the stains!!!xtra info- the carpet is older , it's your basic cheap carpet and is beige/cream in color!!!Any ideas/solutions will be greatly appreciated, just remember I want the cheapest, most effective quickest ways to remove stains from older carpet!!!
how old are the stains? if there old try bleach
Q:We received a carpet bid for a room that is $2641.00. The next number is 52.44 installed and carpet only 39.44. I'm assuming this is yards? Does that sound like an average price for a slightly above average carpet? For about 200 square feet, is $7/sq. ft an average cost for tile and $1700 total including materials? Then still I have to pay labor separate. It is a unique tile in a unique shape, not square but rectangular.
The carpet , I need more info on since most of those numbers don t make sense with out knowing the s/f of the room to be carpeted. The 39.44 and the 52.44 sound like a square yard price and to give you a price like that is against the law. All carpet must be given in a s/f price format.. I used to have carpet that installed at 52.44 a s/y but it was excellent carpeting.. So I don t know about the carpet until I get more info, but its sounding high.. The tile could be 7$ a s/f if its unique like you say.. The installed price with the materials is a bit high but not totally out of line at all. Your installation area could explain that.. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:So in my prospective dining room, I will have a black rectangle dining table,
You should paper the walls in a black and white funky patterned wall paper, and get a nice big red, shaggy rug. It'll look awesome!
Q:How to clean a large carpet?
GreaseWhen the carpet is stained with a liquid, it should be dried immediately. Then wipe it off with a clean towel or paper towel. To remove grease, you can use lint in a non flammable dry cleaner. When you wipe it, wipe it from outside to inside. Don't shave so as not to scrape the fibers. Pat the stain until it's clean. Before using the detergent, test it in the inconspicuous part of the carpet and let it dry before it can be used again. If the oil spill is not too difficult to remove, you can smear on the stain with carbonated water, and then blow dryer, and finally use vacuum cleaners to clean the carpet. Can also be sprinkled with corn flour or talcum powder, placed for six hours, and then vacuum cleaner.
Q:what is the grade of the carpet after fire retardant treatment?
it mainly depends on what the fire inspector say. the more wool the carpet contains, the better the flame retardant effect is, of course. Other materials will also be flame retardant
Q:whats the diffrence between carpets and rugs?
Carpets are what's in the upscale homes. Rugs is what us poor folks got.
Q:I'm looking for a rug that I've seen on TV many times, yet I can't find it anywhere on the internet. It's a large brown area rug and it has a huge white/cream hollow circle on it. Like the outline of a circle on it. I may have seen it on the Jeff Leis show one time, but I've seen it other places too. Please help?!?!?

Q:I'm wanting to redo the interior of my car black but they didn't make any stock with black so I can't just buy a carpet mold. Does anyone know where I could get one made? Or even if there's a way I could make one...
Yes, you can make car carpeting. Just go to any carpet store and buy any carpet you want. You could even carpet your car with shag, if that's what you like (although it will be a lot harder to keep clean than indoor-outdoor carpeting). Use your existing carpet as a template. When you remove the carpet, try to keep it as whole as possible and then just lay it on top of the new carpet for a template. You might have to use books or some other weight to flatten the template, because it's bound to be bumpy after being formed to your car for so long. Then just tape the new carpet in place using carpet tape -- or use glue that's made to adhere to metal. Your car can have any kind of carpet you like. Personally, I would stick with carpets that are easy to keep clean (short-fibered carpets made of nylon), but honestly this is your choice.
