Q: What dirt to use for bearded dragons eggs?
A combination of each of the soil types is the foremost way to prepare your soil. The best mixture is 40% sand, 20% clay, and 40% silt. However I think that the easiest way to do this is to buy the soil at your local hardware store or nursery. Walmart carries soil in the lawn and garden area. If you use your local nursery just let them know what you are doing and they will steer you in the right direction.
Q: I have a little leafy house plant, not exactly sure what it is, but there's something strange in it's soil. The plant came with just standard soil, none of the little white balls in it, and now there's white balls popping up left and right. I took one and cut it in half, and they're hard little things, but I don't want them to be something harmful to my plant.
You can buy vermiculite at Home Depot, Kmart, or any large store with a lawn garden section, or a hardware store. It might even be for sale in a large drugstore - call first to check.
Q: can I use store bought sand to incubate bearded dragon eggs?
The texture is the percentage of sand silt and clay in a soil. Your clay has the smallest particles so it will have smaller particles and bind together more readily. Here is a site that can help you determine the texture of your soil. soil.gsfc.nasa /pvg/texture2.h... Your topsoil could be a clay, loam or sand or a combination of the three. The texture of the potting soil is probably the most porous since they add amendments (such as vermiculite) to increase the porosity.
Q: i am attempting to grow my own edible mushrooms (much cheaper than the grocery store!) and the mushroom quot;cakequot; calls for 2 parts vermiculite, 1 part brown rice flour, and 1 part water to be mixed together in a bowl.... how would i do this? i am using a quarter pint jar... how would i know how much to mix if i were using a pint jar or half pint jar with a 2:1:1 ratio?thanks!
I can answer your question, but can't tell you anything about Venus Fly Traps (other than hard to grow and keep alive.) Vermiculite and perlite are different types of rocks that can be heated and pop like popcorn, producing what we see - light-weight pebbles. Because of that, although, technically they're different rocks, they serve the same purpose. If you can't find one, it's fine to use the other.
Q: hello.i am thinking about getting a pet tarantula.i have been wanting one for the past year.and i think it is about time get one.So I have never owned a pet tarantula before just rats, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, lizards. What is a good breed for a beginner.and what are the basic care guides.and i am not looking for a pet to cuddle and handle all the time.so i know that most you shouldnt handle and if so a very little.so please and thankyou.:D
Pet tarantulas are cool spiders, but beware of the poison.
Q: ya kno those little white bits...i always thought it was foam but im not sureee
Perlite or vermiculite will help to loosen and airiate compacted soils. Most comercial potting mixes are a mixture of peatmoss, perlite and organic matter such as composted plant matter. Adding perlite to garden soil is not generaly a good idea. If you have a hard clay soil, adding compost is usually the best bet. Personal experiance has shown that planting potatoes also helps to looosen clay soil. If you are intending to plant in containers of any sort I would recomend using a mix of perlite, peatmoss and compost. Regular soil will compact and dry out in a container and be unsuitable for almost any type of plant.
Q: I cut open an old tomato the other day and found that a bunch of the seeds had sprouted! I would like to grow them hydroponically in a nutrient solution without a 'medium'. I grow some houseplants that way, in jars of solution with a bit of tin foil around the base of the stems to hold them firmly in the top of the jar, so the roots are half in and half out of the water. The sprouts are still a bit small for this, but I don't really want to put them in dirt because I would like to keep them clean for later. Any suggestions?
Peat moss would be safer.
Q: I have a female leopard gecko that I purchased from Amey Zoo. The man who worked there told me she had eggs/gravid. This is the first time I have had a reptile lay eggs. I need all advice you can give like what should I give her what do I do? ect. I really want these guys to hatch so all advice will be greatly appreciated. ThankNote: she hasnt yet layed her eggs.
