- Q: Okay, over the course of about the last three weeks, my female box turtle has laid four eggs... I've cvalled a couple pet shops and they have told me to look online for imformation on how to care for them, and they also mentioned to keep the eggs away from the parents because all they will do is step on and mush the eggs, which i found to be true... I was just wondering if anyone could help me out with information like what should i keep the eggs in? From what a read, a mixture of Peat Moss, Vermiculite (Mineral), and Spaghnum Moss works well... Any suggestions/information is appreciated!!

- Q: What is vermiculite made of?
- expanded clay (hydroton)
- Q: My bearded dragon layed 13 bright white eggs two days ago. I put them in vermiculite in a container inside a 10 gallon tank with a cup of water and a thermometer. I have been trying to keep the temp in the 80‘s but sometime it gets into the 90‘s. I try and keep the soil moist by adding water to it. Some of the eggs are starting to collapse. The guy at the pet store said to add more water. I did and it hasn‘t helped. What am I doing wrong?? What can I do for the eggs so the will hatch.
- possibly this is a Transgendered Bearded Dragon, or plenty greater in all probability its a woman offered as a male by utilizing mistake. in the journey that your specific they are eggs then its have been given to be a woman, to boot women folk are plenty bigger and greater physically powerful than adult males yet because of the dimensions of the face and throat horns, could be improper for a male
- Q: I bought a aloe vera plant the only one left in the store. This plant has 8 leaves on it and all are drooping down. The leaves that are on there feel full when I slightly squeeze them. The root where all the leaves are coming from is seperating from the dirt. The soil does seem very dry. While I was unwrapping the plant when i got home one of the leaves had been broken off.How would I properly replant this leave to make a new plant? How do I make this into a healthy plant?Any information suggestions will be greatly appreciated
- Aloes don't need too much water but perhaps the plant is potbound and needs a bigger pot? You can try to propagate the plant by placing a healthy leaf into the soil directly. Many succulents reproduce this way.
- Q: Should I add bagged manure to my potting soil when I plant tomatoes?
- I plant my tomato plants in 100% horse manure every year with no problems, however if you are using bags of steer manure, do not use too much. It is too strong. I never use potting soil. Plants do not like it, because it has a lot of fillers such as wood chips. Couldn't you make some compost?
- Q: i have 80% cow manure and 20% worm castings for soil ...i need help on mixture
- Compost might help, but id add soil as well
- Q: I am closing on my first home next Monday and we have been in discussion with the seller, a 3rd party bank, about who should pay for removal of asbestos found during the inspection. The vermiculite insulation was found in the eaves on the 2nd floor and inbetween the drywall and studs on that floor as well. There is also floor tile that is said to contain asbestos mastic. I received 4 quotes to remove this, all which came in right around $12,000. The bank has offered us $7,000 to put toward the removal. We are going to forgo removing the tiles and just cover them with carpet. Can anyone tell me if they have been through a similar situation and if it was worth it? Should I walk away if they won‘t pay the full $12,000? I am told the tiles are not a danger to my family‘s health and are in all schools.
- I agree with Bare B above. Leaving the floor becomes a disclosure issue for you once you decide to sell. That may put you in the position of having to pay to remove it anyways to sell the house. In addition, the tiles are not a danger as long as they do not disintegrate or begin to degrade. How can you guarantee that once you cover them with carpeting the moisture from having the carpets cleaned, the pressure from moving furniture or dropping things won't create a very big problem of them deteriorating right under your feet without your knowledge? You may not even be able to find an insurer to give you homeowners insurance without exclusions. Run, do not walk away from this deal unless the bank is prepared to take total financial responsibility for this risk.
- Q: I live in the desert. Hot, no humidity, hot, no water, hot, no rain, hot, lots of sunshine, oh and did I mention hot? I would like specifics like what plant would be good to start with that‘s easy to handle, what kind of soil to use (and what retailer to get the soil), where to keep the plant, watering schedule, what kind of other plants I could try to upgrade to, and what sort of things that could go wrong. I would like to try to get a tomato plant, some herb plants, possibly some other veggie or fruit plants. Any suggestions?
- Move away from the desert. Have you tried the local garden centre?! They can answer all those questions specifically AND show you which plants they're talking about.
- Q: I put a bunch of vermiculite (that is probably spelled wrong.) in a pot and then watered it down until the water was as deep as the vermiculite, then dipped the stems of the clippings in some root growth powder and stuck the stems in the vermiculite, I don't think the leaves were touching the wet vermiculite, but after a little over a weak the clippings were basicly reduced to slime... what went wrong?? was there to much water for them??? Was the vermiculite to much for the leaves?? I know that their leaves are very sensitive to water on them, but I am pretty sure they weren't touching the vermiculite/water mix. :S
- the best thing to do would be to call a home inspector. They know all the dangers to look for in the entire house, not just the insulation. (Mold, rot, waterdamage, termites, mildew, etc)
- Q: If I use vermiculite or pearlite with my plants would I still be able to say I grew my plants organically?
