Q:How do they differ from residential wiring?
Commercial and industrial wiring make extensive use of conduit, cable trays/ This entails explosion-proof or flame-proof fittings, along with the seals and other conduit fittings. Residential wiring, in most cases make extensive use of romex cables without any conduit. Other than these major and a few minor differences, the wiring is actually the same. This is the installation of cables/wires from the circuit breakers to the users. TexMav
Q:I have a 1988 ford econoline, and I'm upgrading my radio. I need a straight up answer, I need to know what the colors for each wire stands for, function wise.

Q:i have my wires installed by a professional, and i wanted to put an taco switch to run to my amp, if i run a taco switch will it be okay? and with messing up the wires that he already ran would it screw it up?
why do you need a taco switch on the amp. im assuming that the amp stays on 24/7, if it dues that was not a professional that did the install, you need to connect the ( remote wire) from the head unit to the terminal on the amp (-B)
Q:I am wiring a sony xplod amp up in my car and need to know what the skinny blue wire goes to. Any help would be appreciated.
its the remote wire. it goes from your amp to the back of your stereo deck. if you have an aftermarket deck ( which i would hope you do) there will be a wire labeled that says remote wire. connect the blue wire with that wire behind the deck. the whole purpose of the wire is to tell the amp to turn on and off with the car.
Q:u said when i buy a jvc wiring harness one end plugs in the back of cd player and the wires coming out of that connect to the wires in car will they be the same color though? right now there is a harness already on the cd player and the wires are on it and they are pretty long i thought i just wire those wires from it to the ones in car but they diff. colors
wait wait . u must buy the wiring harness that correspond to ur car first. than u wud simply wire the new wiring harness u bought to ur deck and simply match the colors. and than u simply connect it to ur existing car harness. baaamm done .
Q:i got a fi bl 15dual 2 subwoofer. im wiring it down to 1 ohm.now for the problem. lets say im wiring the positive terminals together. am i suppose to wire it all with positive wire or can i also use negative copper wire? i used two positive wires and one negative wire to hook up the three positive terminals. is this bad? do i need to make all of them positive silver wires?
however way tou ire them as long as they're placed into the comparable amp they each get that plenty output. So 2 subs @ a million ohms is 1000w rms ea and a couple of subs @ 2 ohms get 750w rms ea
Q:What do you use to seal up the hole in the OUTSIDE wall where the cable TV and telephone wires and electrical wires all go thru? I want to replace my telephone wire coming in to the house, because I have DSL and it is really slow. I figured it couldn't hurt to replace the 45 year old wire coming in! :D I'm gonna use the best wire I can find (ANY SUGGESTIONS on what kinda wire to get? :D) to go from the telephone box outside to the DSL jack, but I need to no what to use to seal up the outside hole, when I rip out whatever is plugging it up now! :DThanks! ~Cindy! :D
Use Cat 5 wire (sold anywhere that sells computer supplies, or phone wire) this is the same wire that is used for ethernet cables, etc. I would suggest running a wire direct to your dsl jack, and do not put anything else on that circuit. Use only the amount of wire you need... don't leave like 50 feet coiled up under the floor, or behind the wall, hehehe. I use silicone to seal the holes. You can buy it in a small tube at places like Radio Shack, or WalMart. Basically anyplace that sells antenna cables will have these small tubes nearby the wiring. (its the same stuff that you weather seal around outside windows with, but in a smaller tube. If you are going to caulk your windows, you can just use that) Have Fun
Q:But I want to switch it and wire the red ceiling wire to the black fan wire and the black ceiling wire to the black/white fan wire so that the particular switches work the way I want them to. Is this ok, to switch them?
Black wire on the fan is for the fan motor, red wire in the fan is for the light, the white wire is the neutral wire. So if you do want to switch the light off and on you have to tie red wire to the switch and the black wire can be tied to the hot at the ceiling box so you can control the fan with the chain only. If you have one switch leg in your circuit then you cannot do anything but switch them both if you tie them together. I think I am understanding what you are saying here. White Alyse ties to white Black is for the fan motor and the red is for the light. If you have three wires in the switch then you can tie them the same way color to color. Hope this has not confused you You can email me if you need further help
Q:how to wire the alternator for a 77 mustang
the big black wire is you charging wire should go in the battery side of the starter relay the STA post in the alternator goes to terminal S on the voltage regulator the FLD post goes to terminal F on the voltage regulator and there might be a ground wire next to the FLD post on the voltage regulator wire A+ goes to the battery side of the starter relay and wire I goes to the charging indicator light I'm not sure were the voltage regulator is in a mustang but its a square metal box i think it might be on the radiator support or inner finder
Q:I have a water valve that I need to connect but I don't know how to read this diagram. I'm unsure how to connect the wires to the cold and hot valve. I have four wires that need to be connected. A pair of white caps with one blue wire and one orange; and a pair of black caps with one blue wire and one yellow wire. Sorry if this sounds confusing but I have no idea how to explain it well. Thanks!
The schematic drawings for a large electrical installation will 'normally' have a 'key to symbols' sheet. However some symbols you will have to work out for yourself. (comes with experience). Schematics for control systems may be a different kettle of fish. After 45 years as a maintenance electrician at sea and ashore I came to the conclusion that not only do different countries have different standards, but so do the individual electrical design engineers. Normally control drgs of many pages will have some reference to page No. and grid No's. Each page will be divided into grids, say 1 to 10 across top and A to H vertical. A relay with many contacts, but each contact on different pages, will have a symbol showing all contacts below the coil symbol. Each contact will show :- contact No's, page No and grid ref. IE. 13-14 (4) 2D. This is contacts 13-14 on page 4 at ref 2 across and D vertical. Sorry I can't help you any more with this but I'd be here for the next week or more going through all the different standards.
