- Q: ok so i'm building a high gaming computer. my question is i'm a getting a Full moduler power supply my question is do i have to buy the cables for power does the componets i buy come with them??? oh and by the way just curious what happens if you touch thermal paste with your finger???
- Your power supply will come with a standard assortment of cables to supply power to various components ASSUMED to be in your system. But you will want to read reviews of your chosen power supply before you buy it to find out what (specific) cables are included. Most modular power supplies will have the right cables for motherboard and hard drives and optical drive. The connections you need to pay attention to are the PCI-Express cables. High-end video cards will need at least one power connection. Some video cards need TWO power cables for EACH card. If you plan to run multiple cards, you could need 4, 6 or even 8 PCI-Express power cables! So you need to think ahead to decide how many (maximum number) of video cards you will want to install in the system. Then figure out what specific model. Then add up the number of PCI-Express power cables needed by type. Such as: (2) six-pin plus (2) eight-pin. Now you are ready to read reviews of your chosen power supply to see if it has the right cables included. Thermal paste often contains heavy metals. So it's not good to touch it with your finger. But momentary contact is not a problem, as long as you wipe it off and/or wash your hands shortly afterward. The main problem with touching thermal paste (with finger or otherwise) is that you don't want to remove too much of it from the heatsink/CPU area...or it won't cool properly. In general, don't touch it with your finger. But if you do, it's not a big deal. Just don't leave it on your skin for very long.
- Q: I have a Maxtor 3200 and I accidentally plug in the wrong power cable for it. I saw the light flicker on then off. I realized my mistake and tried to plug it in its correct cable but now it won't turn on at all. I figure that the wrong cable must of forced too much energy through it. I have a lot of important files on there. I know that fixing it won't be cheap, I fully realize that. However, is there any hope of retrieving my files at all?
- the interior and exterior drives themselves are often interchangeable. An exterior tension is only a small case housing a disc tension. The exterior tension case incorporates its very own ability furnish and a connector interface for conventional exterior interfaces on pcs (USB, Firewire, etc...). As for storage, use of an inner disc tension is counseled for the working equipment and applications because of the fact the enter/output is larger. exterior disc drives are extra for convenience than overall performance and are appropriate extra for archives or backups. @sewrobb - The existence expectancy of CD/DVD media relies upon on many aspects and that they are no longer as indestructible as you're able to desire to think of. I incorporate a hyperlink under that advise DVD-R disc have a existence expectancy of approximately 30 years at the same time as manufacturers declare a hundred-2 hundred years. the 2d hyperlink discusses problems with media from some manufacturers the place the disc have lasted much less then 5 years. at the same time as CD/DVD is one answer, do no longer assume that that's indestructible. additionally undergo in thoughts that technologies differences so a stable backup answer bills for differences interior the sphere. I guess archives centers from the early ninety's concept 9 music media replaced into going to be around for a at the same time as too.
- Q: does anyone know a website that has like a chart with pictures of the different power supply connectors and where in the desktop computer they go all I know is the 24 pin goes to the motherboard and the 6 pin goes to my graphics card
- Its on your motherboard factory web site. usually there is a 4 or 8 pin for the mobo PCI bridge, sata, pata, power connectors for drives. smaller for floppy, blue wire for PSU fan speed report. just find out what FORM you need, most are ATX.
- Q: I'm 1000% positive that it's not my monitor's problem.
- Mkay, Check all power cables including all motherboard cables, which means the making sure that the power switch cable is in the right pins. If there is no beeps or sounds being emitted when you turn the computer on, you can almost right away assume it is a power issue, make sure the right cables are plugged in is crucial. Make sure everything is seated correctly: i.e. your processor, processor fan, RAM, CMOS Battery, Video Card, Network card (if you have one), etc. Make sure that the power supply itself is turned on, sometimes theres a black switch on the PSU and that could be it. Another idea is (and one problem i had) is to make sure there is no screws that are caught between the motherboard and the case (when you've seated the motherboard in the case) because that can ground the motherboard and it won't work, but i doubt thats the problem. Anyway, for the most part I would say this is a cable problem because the computer should at least turn on regardless of a hard drive or a ROM drive put in. Best of Luck! Any more questions? Feel free to contact me
- Q: Need advice from tech guys. Can I use laptop charger (20v 3.5A) as adapter with IDE/SATA to USB cable to power 3.5HDD in place of (12v 0.8 A) cheap adapter which just got faulty.
- Essentially you could, but why would you when ypu can buy one for cheap? The whole idea f a laptop is so its portable (just my two cents)
- Q: Hi,I bought a new 500GB HDD today, with a SATA cable (data) but I don't know what kind of power cable I need?I looked around and saw Sata to Molex and all kinds of things, I've never had to hook up a second hard drive before and the terms are confusing me. Could anyone tell me what kind of cable I'll need and where I'm supposed to hook them up to?Thanks!
- Your PSU, should have all of the needed connectors.
- Q: Ok, my pc and monitor have the same socket for a power cable, and i mixed the two cables up, but one has a 5 amp fuse and one has a 10 amp fuse... What one goes where??
- put the ten amp on monitor, but doesn't matter either way is fine.
- Q: The cylinder is in the power cable about 2 inches from the connection to the laptop and is about one half inch diameter by one inch long. Does it serve an electronic function or is it just a mechanical assist device?
- It's called a choke. It's used to filter out unwanted radio interference.
- Q: lost the original cable at a gig, but I have another cable. the outlet on the Behringer guitar amp reads quot;Use only with 250V fuse, but right above the outlet it reads 220-240 with a upside down triangle next to it (not sure if this represents volts or not...I know obviously V stands for volts, but this is a upside down solid triangle.)My power cable/cord that i found reads 10A 250VI know i should probably purchase one direct from the manufacture, but that is not possible right now. I have a gig coming up this weekend.thanks for any help.I also mention the original power cord was a two prong (that went into the outlet) - the one i might use is a 3 prong. will this still be safe? It does fit into the back of the amp perfectly.
- Assuming you're in a place where the outlets provide 220 to 240 volts, it's fine. The 250 volts on the power cord just means it's good for *up to* that.
- Q: i need a power cable for a digitech rp 10 guitar effects processor. my teacher gave it to me and it doesnt have a power cord. if anyone has one please let me know. ill pay good money. but i wont pay an outrageous amount.
- They have a wanted section!
