- I have had the same issues time and time again, either too heavy, won't fit under furniture, hoses tear, too may filters and like you tired of replacing them. I purchased a Dyson about a year ago and it has not lost suction yet. I use it everyday it only needs one filter and I wash it out as directed which is perfect for me. The extension pole on it is great too for getting dusty spots and spiderwebs. I comes with a lot of different attachments so i can manage multiple surfaces. I will never buy another vacuum brand.

- I do not know about the Henry Hound but the DYSON Animal is great. I think it could suck the paint off the wall if I left it there long enough.

- I like the dirt dog. Turn it on and leave and it cleans the floor. It is built to be tough to work in a garage so it doesn't break.

- I think it's the noise, yes, but it's also the fact that the noise is so sudden, from complete silence or whatever's going on in the room previously. If a cat is motionless and all of a sudden, something is pushed towards her and she has less of a comfort zone, that may also scare her. One of my previous cats used to puff up her tail, curl her tongue and hiss at the vacuum until it was about 6 inches away from her. Then she'd run and hide until the noise stopped and the monster was put back in the closet. If the monster stayed out in the open, she would attack it with her paw when it was shut off!

- Your dog is probably thinking oooh goody a toy play play play play!!!! he/she might also be thinking, Oh no that stupid and loud vacuum cleaner is on again, or What is that thing? Its invading my territory. What if it pees and marks its spot? aah!!!! I would suggest putting your dog outside when you vacuum. It wouldn't hurt your dogs ears as much (because he/she wouldn't hear it) And if your dog does have a territory in your home, and your dog is inside, don't vacuum so close to it unless your dog could really care aless or he/she is outside!
