- Q: I've been working on a couple projects in one room in my house. The room really needs to be vacuumed but there is aquarium gravel scattered around as well as a bunch of tiny screws. I have a shark vacuum. There's no threat of puncturing a bag because this vacuum doesn't use a bag - it uses a canister. I could easily empty the canister and then go over the floor with the hose. I'm wondering if it's an ok idea though because I don't want to damage anything in the vacuum. Occasionally, my battery powered aquarium vacuum will suck up a couple pieces of gravel, they'll get stuck, stop the vacuum, and I have to get them out for the vacuum to work again. I don't know how house vacuums work, but I don't want that to happen. If there aren't any mechanical components to be damaged, then I guess the only other worry would be the hose, but the hose on this vacuum feels pretty sturdy, and I would just be vacuuming tiny gravel and tiny, corroded screws - nothing sharp like tacks or nails. What do you guys think?
- The aquarium vacuum cannot be compared to a regular vacuum cleaner. The motor is smaller as well as the vacuum pump. Also the particles flow through the aquarium vacuum pump where as the regular vacuum cleaners create a vacuum in the container that catches the dust and debris and there is usually a filter between the container and the intake of the vacuum pump that blocks most of the dust and debris. Make sure you check that filter before you start and when you have finished the vacuuming.
- Q: I was wondering why my vacuum cleaner was leaving trails of crap all over the place... so I flipped it upside down when it was on, and it turns out it does vacuum (quite powerfully, at that) but all the crap gets shot out of another part of the bottom! - Hmm odds are you may have a dirty filter or bag perhaps even a clog while it's normal for things to occasionally be left behind if it's leaving a lot you typically have obstructed airflow, i'm also curious are you using this on a hard floor? i know most uprights are not really made for hard floors as the brushroll will fling things back at ya if this is the case i would suggest getting a bare floor tool
- Q: Honest, Himself just purchased a new vacuum we are told one of the attachments was used in the 1940s for nit picking.Have you ever heard of a nit picking attachment being put on vacuum cleaners in the past? If you were to gain some nits would you be inclined to use a vacuum to remove them? Why or why not.Oh in case you were wondering I don't catch nits. I know this because back in the day I had work that involved louse removal from humans I never, ever caught any. Apparently I am immune.
- Personally, I've never heard of a system like that. When I had nits, we had to use a type of shampoo and a nit comb every day.

- An air cleaner / purifier is pretty much the same thing in my book. I have one of the newest model of Rainbow vacuum cleaners and it has an option to be used as an air cleaner. It uses water to trap dust,lint,pet hair etc. The vacuum itself is phenomenal. I love it. I can use this thing in any room on any floor surface. I just dump the water outside and don't have to mess with dusty bags or filters. I've been using this machine for a few months now and people tell me they can definitely tell a difference in the quality of the air in my home. You would not believe the junk that this vacuum pulled from my carpet. A good thing to have in your home is house plants. These also clean the air.

- Q: Combines the cyclonic suction of a Dyson but utilizes a bag?I've used Dyson's (never owned one) and they have tremendous suction power, but I absolutely HATE the bag-less containers because when I empty them the dust goes everywhere and eventually you have to clean the containers and those filters inside.If there isn't anything that combines the best of both worlds, what upright (bag using) vacuum do you recommend as the best for a single floor mid-sized house?I really desire something that can get up close against the edge of the carpet and the side-boards and has good consistent suction power.
- cant go wrong with a kirby, i have had mine for 6 years and works as good today as it did when it was new. stay away from dyson, in home daycare had 2 and both died in 6 months or less. they clog easy and they are bagless. i agree with you bagless are as bad as never sweeping.

- I believe sharks are awesome creatures. People have made them out to be villains. People are angry at sharks because they someimes bite but consider the fact that when swimming at the beach were in a shared ecosystem. The sharks were there first so we should respect them. If I was a shark I would probably be angry that 100s of people swim around in my home. Also when sharks bite their not necessarly trying to eat someone. They dont have hands and their fins arent effective in feeling something so they use their teeth. Their just trying to feel and unfortunately it involves their teeth but once again its their turf. Sooooo I love sharks because their beautiful enough said : )
