One company, Aerus LLC (formerly Electrolux Corporation), mentioned that the only differences between its commercial and household vacuum cleaners is that the former have less warranty protection, have longer cords, and do not feature above the floor attachments or headlights. Nothing was said about construction materials being different.
- Ask more relevant questions like what is the duty cycle and what is the mean time between failure. Motors heat up. A motor designed for intermittent use will overheat and burn out if used continuously. An industrial grade motor can be run 25/7.
- Q: There are 4 adults and 1 dog in my home. One of the adults tends to quot;shedquite a lot and has ruined every cheap vacuum we have bought with her hair. I would like to get a nice vacuum anyway, and I've found a great deal on Dyson vacuums, so the one I get has to be a Dyson. However, regardless of the deal, I don't want to buy a nice vacuum if the human hair will ruin it. I've narrowed it down to the DC25 All Floor, or the DC25 Animal. - if you are concerned with a vacuum at work in a company with the qualifying number of employees and you want to know whether a licensed electrician has to do the repairs the answer is no. the NEC considers it an appliance. if the cord is damaged it should be replaced. Taping it up will not pass for OSHA

- the fan causes the vacuum cleaner to suck-in the air. as the moving air passes by the dirt particles, it's the INTERACTION of the moving air and the dirt that causes the dirt to be drawn along with the air. basically, the air molecules bash into the dirt particle and impart energy (momentum) to the dirt, and this is what makes it move. if there was no air motion over the dirt, then the dirt particles would not respond to the vacuum cleaner.
- Q: I had sales people come to my door last night. I was just getting in the shower. I told them I had very little time. Two came in and demostrated. The woman was very understand and went through it fast. When they were getting ready to leave the big boss came in. I am assuming to close the deal. He went throught the demo all over again. I kept telling him I have been through it already. Three hours later they were leaving!! She apologized. It seems like an amazing vacuum, but a lot of work. In addition to the work it was going to cost me 1900.00! I hear they Dyson (misspelled I am sure) is good. Does anyone know anything about the Dyson?
- I live where Kirby vacuum's are manufactured.. I've never had anyone come to my house selling Kirby... However, I will have to say that my mother-in-law and her mother-in-law both have refurbished Kirby's from the 1940's/1960's.. In fact they still run and they have them serviced for under $25 which is a total rebuild ! It's very rare in this day and age to have a vacuum still working after so many yrs. Although, they are heavy which is why I have been given my mother-in-laws vacuum she has to have a lighter vacuum.. I've heard that Dyson in good but, I would hardly think it will be around for 20, 30 or 40 yrs. We've gotten use to in our thinking that to just throw away and buy a new one.. If you like the Kirby may I suggest going to an estate/garage sale or vacuum repair place they may have one for considerably cheaper.. Good luck
