- Q: Hello, My dog chewed my carpet in my apartment in a few places. I dont think it needs completely replaced but I want to pass the inspection when I move. It is quite obvious in a couple of places and we just dont want to be held liable for whole apartment replacement. Can someone give me an idea how to make it passable again?
- I like the idea of taking it from a closet. Just want to forewarn you that the pet deposit is likely not going to be returned to you. And, if it were my carpet your pet ruined/damaged, I'd likely ask for it to be replaced- same condition as when you moved in- with normal wear and tear. I think puppy is going to cost you a bit for this chewing.
- Q: where can I find free pattern to weave a rug on a rigid weaving loom?
- Are you working on a rug now? As you know, a rigid heddle loom has limitations. You can only do plain weave, and for a rug, this is just fine. If you are using rag strips, that is even better. The patterning will come from the colour of the horizontal stripes you are weaving. You can change them at will, or according to a set pattern. The patterns are only limited to your imagination! I would make a small drawing on paper and then just use coloured pencils or crayons to make horizontal stripes. If you have patterned material to work with, you may not need to make much of a design because the wefts (the cross threads) will make a design of their own. How wide is your rigid heddle? Most are fairly narrow -- perhaps up to 22 wide. Your rug is going to be quite narrow. You may want to piece two of them together side by side, and that offers further possibilities for creating a pattern. Just go wild!! You can do anything you want.
- Q: I have a 7 month old who just started crawling. We bought carpet freshener a few weeks ago not thinking about if it would be safe to use with the baby here. Is it ok? Any tips?
- I don't think I would. Even after vacuuming, there is probably some residue that he can pick up and then put his hands in his mouth.
- Q: I am about to get a foal and a light horses. Which blankets/rugs do each of them need and why?
- Well since you didn't give any information as to where you are and what the weather is there we can't answer the question very well. I blanket my horse because I keep riding all winter. He gets sweaty from working and a wet horse can get sick. So I clip him to prevent the sweaty mess. As I have now removed all of his hair - he needs a blanket to keep him warm. If your horse is not working (foal) and he is stabled at night there is no reason to blanket the foal. If it is wet the horse needs protection, but their coats are warm and somewhat waterproof. It all depends, but remember that over blanketing can cause more problem than underblanketing. A too warm blanket can cause your horse to sweat and that is the last thing you want in the cold. Congrats on your new horses and good luck.
- Q: How come my carpet is Dirty, i vaccum twice a day, mop my Floor, I live in a old apt, on 2nd Floor. i shamboo my carpet twice a month, but i just dont understand because my carpet look clean but my feet is always black from the carpet.. do i need to throw and get new carpet or tiles?? my carpet is Brown (short).
- There is dirt in there from before you moved in. It's probably so old, you won't ever be able to get all the dirt out! It's amazing how absorbent that stuff can be. (Heck, maybe it wasn't always brown!) You need to put a work order in to your apartment to get the carpets cleaned.
- Q: I am painting my truck black but the carpet inside is like a burgandy color and falling apart. Can I just put like new black carpet down or what else could i put in the floor of my truck
- I had a '76 F250 that just had a black rubber mat in it. Great for hosing out a muddy interior!
- Q: wax cleanup from rug
- I have used an iron and a cloth to get wax out of the carpet before. Lay the clth over the area and then apply a warm iron to the cloth, Hold it in place for awhile and then remove it. If I remember correctly, I had to do it about 20 times to get all the wax removed, but it worked.
- Q: What should be done if the carpet has water in and smell sour?
- Clean, and then put it under the sun
- Q: My cat has a bad hairball problem, and whenever the seasons change she'll have barfing episodes almost every day for weeks. Okay here's the part that really boggles my mind:Our house is all hardwood floor, with linoleum in the kitchen and the bathrooms. We have a few throw rugs here and there. Now, out of all the places to puke, she ALWAYS chooses to puke on one of the various throw rugs in the house. One time I saw her retching and I picked her up and put her on the linoleum and she ran back to the throw rug and hurled, refusing to barf on bare floor. I really wish she would barf on the hardwood or the linoleum because then I could just quickly wipe it up instead of having to pre-treat and wash the rugs all the time. Does anyone know why cats prefer puking on carpet vs. bare floor surfaces?
- I don't know either, but a majority (if not all) of cats do that. Maybe a rug seems like grass to them or they think that their puke is harder to find there.
- Q: I'm wondering which San Francisco carpet cleaning company is the most reliable and really professional?
