Q:I am trying to replace my kitchen faucet. I have done this before, but never at this house. I can not for the life of me get the old faucet out of there. The nuts are too old and rusted, I have tried a high quality penetrating oil, that didn't seem to work. I am also not too comfortable using a torch, so that's out of the question. There was advice on another website that said just to use a good drill and drill through the nuts since I'm replacing them anyway. I'm not sure if this is really a good idea, but I am at my wits end!The other problem I'm having is I can't figure out how to get the old mounting parts off either. I can take pics with my phone if anyone needs to see them.Any help would be appreciated!!
Go to the hardware store and buy a plumbers wrench. It's an odd looking thing that looks like it'll never work. Costs around $12.00. The hardware store can explain how it works. If you can unscrew the nuts enough to raise the fixture up but not get it off, You can take a SAW-ZALL or a hack saw blade. and cut off the rest from on top (between the fixture & the sink). Becarefull not to scratch the sink with the saw blade. try putting some duct tape where the blade may come in contact with the sink. When you put in the new fixture, coat the threads with a lithium type grease, that protects the threads from rusting and will be easier to replace next time.
Q:Should the faucet be installed on the left or right side of the wash basin?
My father is the new to buy a Shannon faucet, the installation is very convenient, tall enough weight
Q:Buy basin to pay attention to what?
Distinguish the faucet good or bad First look at the degree of light and the thickness of chrome, the surface the more smooth the better the better the quality. When turning the handle, there is no excessive gap between the faucet and the handle, and it is easy to open. Can not only high-quality faucet gap, a sense of resistance is also large. Leading material is the most bad to distinguish. Good faucet is the overall casting of copper, beat up the sound boring. If the conditions can be, the handle can be removed to check the copper inside. If you buy stainless steel faucet, beating crisp sound when beaten.
Q:I have a deep sink and a high faucet. When the water is turned on to wash hands water gets all over the counter no matter how careful I am. Is there an adaptor that I can add to the end of my faucet? Thanks
You need an aereator. I'm sure I'm spelling it wrong, but it's the little chrome piece that screws onto the end of the faucet spout. It mixes air with the water, so that when the water it hits the sink basin it won't splash. They are sold at Home Depot or Lowes for less than $5 bucks. Look at the end of your faucet spout and note whether it has male or female threads, then you'll know which one to buy.
Q:Please use details. I am wanting to change my faucets. I'm okay with doing things myself so, I thought to install it on my own. Help, please, with the removal and installation. Thanks.
It would actually be helpful for you to go to a home improvement store and ask the people in plumbing. They can then show you what you're going to be up against, and how the various faucet models are fastened into the sink. Usually, for the type of faucet with two handles on either side of the spigot, there is a threaded water pipe coming down from the bottom of each valve. These then fit through the holes on the edge of the sink and you slip what's called a spanner nut onto these pipes, and tighten them up to fasten the faucet to the sink. You then attach the water supply lines to these pipes. For the types of faucet with the single handle in the middle, you may only have one threaded pipe with the water supply lines running up through it. One issue you may have in accessing the spanner nuts is that there's not enough room between the sink and back wall to access the nuts. In this case, you'll need a tool called a spanner wrench, which is basically a crescent-shaped metal clamp on the end of a metal handle that clamps down onto the nut when you turn it (ask the sales person in plumbing to show you one). Removing the old faucet can be the hardest part, especially if the old parts are rusted or corroded in place. You can also very easily break or strip old water cut-off valves when removing the corroded water lines, which will require that you replace them with the correct type (and you'll have to turn off the main water supply valve to do so). When you purchase the new faucet, you'll see how it gets connected in the instructions on the box. Various models have somewhat different actual mounting hardware. But, they're all basically the same (a type of spanner nut).
Q:Im installing a new kitchen faucet. I have disconnected all hoses and the sprayer from the kitchen sink. I have disconnected the handles and stem.My problem is Im not sure how to remove the two washers directly under the sink handles for cold and hot. Once I get them off I should be able to remove the remaining locking nut on each side.Any suggestions to get these rusted pesky washers off?I have the following tools at my disposal:Basin WrenchPliersScrewdriversDrillDremel Rotary ToolSmall ChiselHammerMallet (Metal and rubber)plus pretty much any other basic tools.Any help much appreciated.
The washers may actually be a set screw escutchon. Try to loosen the lock nut that is in the cabinet under the faucet. You then should be able to pull up the stem assembly. Look at the top washer and see if it has a set screw holding it to the stem. Loosen the set screw and unthread the washer off the stem. The remaining assembly would then be removed into the cabinet.
Q:How to remove the hose from the washbasin faucet
If you still have a pull-type fell into the water, have to pull the rod and fall control lever separately.
Q:Wash basin faucet double hole size how much distance
Now the new national standard basin double hole faucet distance is 102 mm.
Q:hey guys, im replacing a kitchen faucet for my mom right now, and Its not one of the ones where it scres in on the two side panels, it has a long threaded neck that attatches to the sink basin, how would I take this out, I tried spinning the faucet to just unscrew the threading but it pivots...
Faucets that I'm familiar with sit on top of the sink and are bolted down below the sink. You have to loosen nuts under the sink from the threaded water supply lines on the bottom of the faucet unit, then lift the entire unit out from the sink. That leaves holes in the sink. Threaded water supply lines on the bottom of the faucet fit through those holes and water lines from your house's water supply are attached to those. But the handles, neck, the whole shooting match is one unit.
Q:Kitchen basin basin faucet down how to repair
Look at the leading buds and nuts have broken off? Not broken is the faucet and the bottom of the basin at the bottom of the faucet nut tightened just fine
