Q: Ok, i'm 14 and was quot;experimentingquot; with fire in my bedroom, i set a piece of paper alight, and was holding it, when it got to the point where i couldn't hold it any longer, i dropped it and stomped it out, then immediately noticed that the paper had kinda quot;fusedquot; with the carpet to create one big mess on the floor, and not need it gone urgently before my parents see! The carpet itself isn't really burnt i guess...
carpet it like plastic fibers so it melts. throw a rug over it.
Q: My carpet is very stained and is supposed to be tan but because i have three kids and a dog who spill everything they can on it, its now multi colored and i have tried almost every carpet cleaner there is to try and get it clean. Ive used every resolve product, oxyclean, baking soda, and a lot of white vinegar and nothing works! Ive searched in resolved questions about this and got a lot of mixed answers. Some said they did it and it worked great then others said it can make them even worse by making the glue in the carpet fibers come apart. We live in post housing and i already know we are going to have to have the carpet replaced when we leave but that's not for another year or two. Im so embarrassed by it that i don't even like to have our friends over. I would like to know if anybody has bleached their carpets to make them white and if they have did the fibers in the carpets unravel weeks or months later??? Or did everything go okay and the carpets look better???
I would definitely just hire a carpet cleaner... for about 50 dollars (I'm sure you've spent more on products), they can come and remove most of those unsightly spots. Just take out your local phone book and see who's available. Best of luck!
Q: I have light carpets (builder special!) and a 2 yr. old and a 4 yr. old. I keep them clean (the carpets and the kids!), but hate to pay for the professional carpet cleaners all that often. I often use Woolite OXY Clean, but I just keep finding more spots. Seems a daily battle. Does anyone know a quot;home remedyquot; I can use to spot remove? I have tried Oxy Clean, and even tho my carpet it light it has bleached some places.
Use a little laundry soap. If you use too much you will have a soapy mess, but I little will do it.
Q: I have new carpet in my apartment. When I try to vacuum, it clogs my vacuum. Should I get a better vacuum or not vacuum at all?
Keep at it. The fuzz in the carpet will dissipate. If you can afford a new vacuum, go for it.
Q: There's a shag rug that has been in my basement for 15 years. Now, my basement is unfinished and is a bit damp in the summer but only on the walls. The rug itself is in pretty good shape but it does smell a tad bit damp and gross haha, and the bottom is a little shredded. Is there a way to clean it up so I can use it in my bedroom upstairs?
Professional or a commercial carpet cleaner will often do this type of cleaning and rug repair as a side business They will have the knowledge ir the rug can be cleaned and the shredded part fix. Dry cleaners wont have the experience about the age and condition of the rug will hold up to a machine wash or cleaning. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: My carpet in my living room has become stiff. I regularly shampoo it and it is rinsed thoroughly. Any suggestions as to how to make it soft again?
It sounds like you use too much shampoo? I would try going over it with just clear water This will remove surface dirt and soften the pile
Q: I have heard that cleaning a carpet with a quot;carpet cleanerquot; can actually harm the carpet. How do I clean my carpet, which is brand new, without harming it? I heard you have to put scotch guard or something on it.....idk please help! Thanks!
Here's the best way: Cleaning a carpet is almost a calling, you must consider many things. What is the carpet made of? Wool, nylon, synthetic materials, combinations of wool and silk and or cotton fibers. It makes a great deal of difference what the carpet is made of, in your approach to cleaning it. If its some sort of synthetic fiber like nylon, for example, forget about ever getting that spot out. If its a natural fiber such as wool or silk or cotton you can clean it First you need a pail, tepid water and a decent sponge or two. Of the utmost importance is real soap, not detergent or dish soap but liquid soap that you can whip into a sort of froth. The soap should be either castile soap that has been grated or the gentlest sort of liquid hand soap on the market. What you need to do now is place some soap in a jar or the pail and make a large amount of froth or bubbles. You will only be using the froth to clean the stain. You can use one of the sponges for this, soak the sponge in the soap bubbles. After absorbing as much material as possible from the actual stain. Don't rub or scrub the stain, just sponge the soap into the fibers with a gentle press and lift motion. Repeat until the spot disappears. Now, the second part, pour a few tablespoons of white vinegar into a pail of tepid water and using the second sponge moistened with vinegar and water, remove the soap on the carpet. Using the same method mentioned above. It takes time and effort but in the end, if you have a carpet worth keeping this is the way to do it. You may have to do this a multitude of times to remove the stains, never leave soap on a carpet, it matts the fibers and dirt is attracted to the sticky soap residue. Try not to use too much force either when cleaning it, gentle is the key, as it destroys the nap of the carpet.
Q: Hi I have a mobile and for some reason something was leaking and it caused our hall way carpet and our two bedroom carpet to get wet and now its moldy. Idk where the leak came from. But it's pretty bad. So how do I go about fixing it? Do I pay someone to do it or can me and my family do it. I believe we have taken care of the leak. Now we gotta fix carpet. Thanks.

Q: How to do if there is a little piece of carpet broken?
It can be filled.
Q: I'm trying to figure out how to make one of those carpet things cats climb on. i have extra carpet and want to make one for my cat.
Try Plywood and even some strong cardboard tubing, try to stay away from Shag carpeting, or loose knit.....otherwise, you will be picking up loose carpet, or the Cats will eat them....not good for the inside organs of your baby. Remember to balance the seating if you are making a multilevel condo.
