Q:the question i have is can the pump be turning and not leaking but not pump water??? i know the olden days (the good ole days) as long as the impeller was turning it would pump water! leaking seal is when it went bad,or locked up..like a box fan blade as long as it is turning its moving air...
I would first check to see if there is any circulation in the radiator, with motor cold and the radiator cap off start the engine and wait about 10 min watching the radiator opening there should be some circulation if not then you probably have a bad water pump or a stuck thermostat that is stuck closed
Q:What is called soft start of water pump?
Close the outlet valve of the pump, open the inlet valve, and can ensure that the water pump "self filling" (the liquid level is higher than the pump inlet pipe under the condition of the water pump start procedure is: to start the motor, to the normal operation of the motor, slowly open the outlet valve, the current gradually increase. But in the unattended operation (valve), and automatically pump, and pipeline diameter and length (in the pipeline water quality will be great), such as the motor start fast, to quickly promote the quality of water (as the train will soon accelerate acceleration), will make the motor starting current is large, causing the motor to trip and the damage of mechanical and electrical. Soft start (soft starter added in the circuit) - that is, slow motor speed, can overcome the above situation.Stop the pump normal order is: close the outlet valve, then stop the motor, such as unmanned operation, the outlet valve is not closed, when the pump stops suddenly, the water inside the tubes (especially vertical pipe), water will quickly turn back, so when the check valve suddenly closed, the fast flowing water suddenly stop by the inertial impact that produces "water hammer" effect and damage of pipeline system, using the "soft stop" should, in the circuit is connected with the soft stop device.
Q:how to replace water pump in a 96 F150?
1. drain coolant 2. remove engine fan and clutch assembly 3. remove radiator hose connection at water pump 4. remove water pump 5. clean water pump to engine mating surfaces 6. install water pump with water pump gasket 7. rest of installationin reverse order of removal
Q:1998 Honda civic water pump plastic or metal inside (OEM)?
metal trough out.
Q:Hi -- could someone please give me information on how much I should expect to pay for a water pump and to cleanse my coolant system (or something like that) or if it's something I really need to do. Or if I can get the water pump without the coolant system...My car is running fine, just started making kind of a rough running sound a few weeks ago when it's idling. ANY advice is greatly appreciated!
Right..the water pump doesn't sound like your problem. However, it would not hurt to get the cooling system totally flushed out and replaced with new fluid, if this has not been done in a long time. Might run you about...$75, just a guess. You also should really consider replacing the fuel filter, air filter, and spark plugs. This could really make a difference for you if they are old. Wouldn't cost you but $30 for all of those parts and maybe 45 minutes labor.
Q:i have a 2003 dodge neon and my thermostat keeps rising to the highes level setting off the indicator (its not broken) i did have a leak in the raiditor and it was very notice able..after pacthing is up there was noproblem till yesterday now the thermostat keeps rising i admit the is very little antifreeze in ther and the rest is water but the is the same mixture tha was in the care that it was rinning off for the last three minths i cannot seem to keep the thermostat down my raiditor is in nee of repair but i m wondering if its the water pump does the water pum help regulate engine temperture? ther are no ivsible leaks and no drippiage could it be that i just need to put antifreeze or could it be the water pump or a broken raidiator? help i will give points for best anwser but really i just need help!
Codes won't tell you anything and there's no such thing as a thermostat fuse. this can be several things, but it's not likely the water pump. what fails on a water pump is the bearings, a failure that would cause this type of problem would be a frozen water pump and if that were the case, the belt would squeal like crazy and break, as it move but the w/p didn't. a bad w/p will drip coolant from the bottom just back of the pulley, there is a hole there that leaks when the bearings are bad,, but that won't cause a overheat. If the coolant is low, top it off, with the car cold into the rad and the overflow bottle. Change the thermostat, it could be frozen shut, but it is unlikely. if you rad is that shot, you could change it, but the most common cause of this sort of problem is a warped head and/or a blown head gasket. A mechanic can check for this, but take it ot one you trust, as this is about a 1,500 dollar job either way, you have to pull the head to fix it. Running it with low coolant, unfortunately can cause this. if it's not this than the rad is plugged up, but if it just started happening, and it temp gauge maxes out all of a sudden with a full coolant tank, it is likely the head gasket/head. It can also be a cracked block. Sorry to be the one to give you the news..
Q:Level 200 meters distance, elevation 30 meters, how much lift water pump?
According to the horizontal distance of 10 meters is 1 meters lift, 200 meters is 20 meters and 5 meters height difference of 30 Mega elbow, pump head floating down 10%, should be about 60 meters.
Q:My water pump in my pontiac bonneville 99 went bad, and while I was in the navy, in aviation fuels, some of my job consisted of repairing pumps and valves, and rebiulding them all together, and this water pump from my car seems to have some of the same features of previos pumps i've worked on, usualy when i use to repair pumps, most of the time i just replaced the bearings, just wondering if its do-able, im looking for the cheapist way to fix this, the casing for the pump seems to be in very good condition, but havent got it out of my car yet, im short on tools right now for the moment... thanks in advance for any help...
Don't bother. Water pumps fail on this motor all the time and replacements are plentiful and cheaper than dirt. I won't even use rebuilt water pumps in my shop - we only install new ones because they are much more reliable and the cost difference is literally only a couple of bucks.
Q:I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu with 123xxx miles on it. I notice coolant being leaked on the floor heavily and my car gets hot driving. It leaks when the car is on and stops when it is off. Could it be a water pump? What r the signs of a bad water pump?
the water pump leaks
Q:I have a leak coming from the water pump that flows down on the side of the AC compressor before landing on the ground. I cannot verify exactly where the leak is coming from on the pump, but I am sure it is the pump leaking because it also sounds bad like rattling. My question is do I have to remove any other components, such as the AC compressor to be able to remove the water pump. I would be great full for any suggestions.Regards,Steph
1. Disconnect the Ground Cable. 2. Drain the Coolant. 3. Remove Fan Shroud. 4. Remove Fan Visco Clutch. 5. Remove Radiator Hoses and Thermostat Housing. 6. Remove the Serpentine Belt, pay close attention to the path of the serpentine belt. Suggestion draw a diagram as to it's path, before removing. 7. Remove the Water Pump Pulley and Power Steering Pulley. 8. Remove the Tension Adjuster Mechanism. 9. Loosen the Power Steering Pump and move it to the right a little. 10. Remove the Water Pump, and you're done. Tools Needed .... A nice Stereo, plenty of Beer, and a couple of friends to keep you company. Good Luck !
