- It is a dirty job and if you're really interest to do that ,by a Sand machine grind all the surface of the beams till naturals wood color appear.Then by birch color wood finishing and apply it by brush or roller ,this finishing will gave you a bright color of natural wood which with a red tomato paint and same color molding in living room you will have a delicate room to enjoy.

- Yes, you can suspend them with jack chain and eye hooks. I installed literally thousands of those lights (we called them troffers when I was a commercial electrician. In fact, in most cases even if we were dropping them in the grid for main support we also had to suspend two or four ceiling tie wires or jack chain supports to each fixture for earthquake security.

- Absolutely! I assume that you are referring to an acoustical grid/tile ceiling. Most recessed can lights come with adjustable mounting arms that can either be nailed between joists, or in your case snapped over the grid main runners. Make sure that you follow the minimum safe clearances for your particular light. By that I mean make sure that you don't install your light too close to combustible materials. This should be labeled on the light itself at a minimum. If in doubt consult an electrician. Good luck!
