If you only need to stop the drip in order to solder the repair. stuff some ordinary bread into the pipe to temporarily stop the dripping. If you work fast, you will have enough time to solder the new piece on and the water will desolve the bread when you turn the water back on. Trmove the strainer on your kitchen spout before running the water so that any clumps of bread left don't clog it up. If that doesn't work or the drip is too heavy, use compression fittings for the repair.

The terms galvanized and black pipe are not very tight specifications. For example, galvanized pipe can be either seamless or welded. Likewise there are numerous black pipe specifications. If the both types are seamless then they will easily handly 1300 psi with a fair safety factor under the ANSI piping codes. This is at tempertures up to at least 200 degs F. I don't know how corrosive the products of combustion will be or if galvanized pipe will be more corrosive resistant to those products. If they are properly cut and tightened they should hold at that pressure. If you use any fittings they need to be forged steel rather than cast iron.

It depends on what type of joint it is. If you want to send me a photo, I'll tell you what the problem looks like. A lot of fittings are not meant to have plumbers tape, in which case putting plumbers tape on the surfaces before tightening them just makes them prone to leaking. If you have a flexible hose type connection, then these are not meant to have plumbers tape on the threads. Plumbers tape is meant for connections with tappered threads.

Q:Hi, I'm trying to install a remote start system on my truck but I cant find the factory alarm system wires. I don't have a diagram for a 2011 because there isn't one available yet. I don't know if my truck even has an alarm system. On the key fob, there is a panic button.. would this be considered the alarm?
