Q: Someone Stole my stock radio out of my car (They cut it out) Now All i have in the is wires and I cannot afford to go get a new one installed. Here are the wires that are in my car
Here's your audio wiring layout: Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Yellow/Green Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Orange/Green Car Radio Ground Wire: Black/Green Car Radio Illumination Wire: Orange/Black Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Black Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/Black Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Red Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/Red Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Green Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/White Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray
Q: On the large harness that goes to the radio, I can't figure out what 5 of the wires are for. on the harness they are b3 (light tan/white), b4 (gray), b5 (black), a6 (pink), and a7 (blue).
To play an auxiliary source you'd need to fool the deck into thinking it's a separate factory accessory, like an XM radio tuner or CD changer. That's the purpose of the adapter. If you already have a stock XM tuner or CD changer, and you don't want to use it, you might be able to cut the audio signal wires and connect them to an audio cable running to your MP3 player. Then you can set the head unit for the XM tuner but you'll get the audio from your player. But if there's no factory external source equipped in the vehicle, then this isn't an option for you.
Q: Theirs a green ground wire, a white neutral wire and for some reason 3 black wires.
If the ceiling fan has three speeds, those would be wired to a 3 position switch as low, medium and high. Normally the wires would be labeled if they use the same color. If they aren't tagged, and you want to put in a speed control switch, you'll need to experiment; either at the fixture, or just wire them down to the wall switch and make your temporary connections there to see which wires go with which speeds (then TAG them!).
Q: Is it okay to solder wrapping wire to a mother board, I am just asking because the wires are called WRAPPING.
Soldering is fine. As with any wire, be sure to tin the wire first (give it its own thin coat of solder before attempting to solder it to anything else) and secure the wire mechanically so that the solder joint isn't subjected to vibration or other stress. A blob of glue will do the job.
Q: Is there really a difference between audio wire and regular house wire? If you say yes then please explain, in understandable scientific terms why, or point me to a site that can.
Audio wire is marked to show + and - if you use house wire just make sure you get the polarisation + - correct. For 120 low voltage high amperage US systems the wire is plenty thick enough, for 230 volt low amperage UK house wiring not so good for a 12 volt system.
Q: my light stopped working ( a chandalier ). It has brown wires, blue wires, red wires, beige wires, and white wires.
Wow, this is a first. most lights have just two wires a black<hot and a white<neutral wire and you just hook black to black using a wire-nut and the same with the white wire and the switch completes the circuit. In some ceiling fans they have blue or brown wires that are also hot to run to the lights at the bottom of the ceiling fans to power that but a chandelier should not have all of that. You might want to call in an electrician for this particular problem because if its a junction box with other wires hooked into that area it could cause a fire or worse a loss of life if you don't know what your doing and disconnect the electricity from the electrical panel by shutting off the power and checking it with a meter. Hope this helps and I would love to see a pic of that chandelier that has that many different color wires!!! wow
Q: I have two low voltage wires that run from one side of a building to another. The insulation on both wires is the same color. I eventually just walked an additional wire around the building and checked continuity. Is there an easier way to differentiate between the two wires?
Assuming that the two wires are unconnected at both ends. If it was a long way to walk, I'd probably just have connected one wire to earth (or an earth bonded item like a radiator) at the far end and checked for continuity to earth at the local end. A slightly more esoteric way would be to connect a diode between the wires at the remote end. A d.c. continuity check between the two wires at the local end would allow you to deduce which wire was connected to the anode and which to the cathode. A battery between the wires at the far end and a d.c. voltmeter at the local end would do much the same job in that it would tell you which wire was connected to positive! .
Q: Why are some wires (especially thin ones, like ones connecting a battery pack in a toy) made up of many wires instead of just being one solid piece of metal?
It's called stranded wire. A solid wire is rigid and will break after only a few times bent. Solid wire is cheaper and is used in house wiring where it does not need to flex. But even automotive wiring uses stranded wire because otherwise the vibration would cause breaks in no time. You may get some answers about high frequency skin effects but few people actually understand it and most of the information about it is wrong.
Q: pendant wiring hookup. issue: light is always on house wires: red, white, black, ground pendant wires: green, white, black (and a ground wire to the frame) I did connect red to green, white to white, black to black, ground to ground is connecting the red to green the problem causing the light to be always on? do I just disconnect the red to green to fix?
First of all you need to determine where the switch that controls the box on the ceiling is. It sounds to me as though three conductor wire was used in the event that a ceiling fan might be installed at some future date. Turn off the breaker to that circuit first. Make sure it is off with a circuit tester. Remove the plate from the switch location and unscrew and pull out the switch. There will be a pair of wires ( white black and bare ground ) coming in to the box. This is where power is coming from. There will also be a trio of wires ( black, red and white plus bare ground. Which ever wire from the trio is attached to the switch will determine which hot wire to connect to in the ceiling box. You will attach that to the black wire from the fixture, the white to white and the green to bare ground. If there are two switches in the same box on the wall, choose the one closest to the door, determine wire color, cap the other color wire in the ceiling box with a wire nut and some electrical tape around it. Push it up in to the box first before any of the other wires. Then make the other connections, attach the pendant base to the ceiling box and you're done.
Q: I have a 220v single phase kiln with two red wires labeled L1 and L2, and one white wire labeled N. It did not come with the plug, so I bought one and new wire 3/c 10awg, but it has ground(green), Hot(black), and neutral(White). I dont know how to proceed with wiring? any help would be great. Thanks. Jose
Wire L1 L2 to the spade looking terminals, and the n to the round pin.
