- Q: i recently replaced my spark plug wires on my 97' lincoln continental. i was wondering if i should get plug wire shielding for them also......thanx
- If it needed wire shielding it would have come with it from the factory. If you get OEM style plug wires then it will come with shielding as well, hence OEM, if not then it didn't come with them and doesn't need them.
- Q: DO i TWIST THE WHITE AND RED SMALL WIRES TOGETHER UNDER THE WIRE NUTS ON AC WIRING TO THE CONDENSER?
- The wires you describe control the relay that starts the AC unit. The main power wires are heavy duty (black and red if this is a 220 volt unit). The light guage wires are low voltage AC and connect to the thermostat. DO NOT joint the red and white wires. There will be a terminal for the red wire. You will have to find out which one it is. Try to get the wiring diagram for your unit from the Internet or call a service professional.
- Q: Quick question with hopefully an easy answer. I had a dimmer switch go bad on a light in a dining room. I bought a new switch and put it in. It was working fine, so I thought, then I noticed that when the dining room light is off, the dimmer works on everything else on the circuit, for example outside lights, hall lights, etc. I can dim all of those things when this switch certainly didn't do that before. Also, if the dining room light is on, all of the other things on the circuit I mentioned before do not work at all. I've obviously incorrectly wired the switch somehow, any thoughts on what I did incorrectly and how to fix?
- Not sure how to answer this. You only had to remove and reinstall 2 wires from the old to the new switch. You obviously disconnected more wires than needed and screwed it up. No way to tell you what you did wrong without actually being there and sorting out your mess. Sorry , now you need a pro, or you have to go thru it one by one until you find the original wire going to the light, then reconnect everything else the way it was. maybe getting an electrician or someone that knows what they are doing may prevent a wire fire in your walls as you obviously do not know enough about wiring to fix it yourself
- Q: im installing lights in my car and it says i need a 12v wire. can i use somthing more then a 12v wire? im hooking it right from my battery. what other wires can i use?
- Depends what lights they are, spot lights perhaps?,anyway, tell your local parts shop what you`re wiring up and the will supply you with the correct cable. Or you could go down the scrappy and rip out some of the thickest cable and use that.
- Q: When I cross the black wire and ground I get a spark. Isnthis normal?
- You should be tripping the breaker when you cross the two, If not, then something is wrong with the breaker. The black is always hot, this isn't a car. Actually, any colored wire is hot except for the white and the green. So in a big house with emt conduit or a commercial job, any colored wire is hot. A 3 way switch with a 3rd leg traveler that is not marked can carry a load, I got knocked off the ladder the other day by one, some idiot connected the traveler to the white, I got zapped big time. I hate when they do that.
- Q: I was looking at the wiring of my current thermostat and I want to know why it's wired the way it is...The yellow wire was wrapped around the white terminal and the yellow terminal. And the white wire was wrapped the around the Orange terminal. The red and green wires were each wrapped around their respective terminals. And the blue wire wasn't connected to anything. Why would the electrician have wrapped the yellow wire around 2 terminals? Is that normal? Also, I tried installing a new thermostat but the heating is not working. The fan works but it just blows room temperature air. The new thermostat only had 4 terminals for R, Y, W, G. I connected the wires I had to their respective terminals. However, I think it may not be working because I have a probably have a heat pump. Any Ideas why else it might not be working? Thanks a lot!
- If you have a heat pump, then the thermostat that you currently have will not work. Otherwise, green wire to G, (fan circuit) white wire to W (heat circuit) Yellow or Blue to Y (cooling circuit) but don't hook up both. Just one or the other. Finally, Red to RC/RH (24V circuit). Make sure on your furnace control board that it is wired the same as your T-stat. Good luck.
- Q: I have a 98 RS Eclipse (420a) and i would like some opinions and recommendations for spark plug wires. Who makes the best or very good wires for my engine??
- The stock ones are made by Mopar. They fit and work.
- Q: I am trying to run a wire from a breaker box to a new plug. To get to the new plug, I have to run the wire over a garage with a finished ceiling, around, through, or over 2 half staircases ( bi level) to get to the unfinished wall to run to the new plug. What would be the proper way to run this wire.
- If you don't need a dedicated line, just tap it off the closest outlet to the new location. Otherwise, can you run it thru the garage attic and down the wall into a crawl space? You may have to surface mount it along house, or use buried cable outside. Without seeing it, it is hard to say. I'm an electrician and we have had to run things all kinds of ways.
- Q: Hello, I couldnt find a more appropriate category for this question, so i'm hoping someone here knows a little about wiring. today my booster fan burnt out, so I had to replace it. I got a 6in-line duct fan from the home depot. When I got home and took it out of the box, there is just wires with no plug on it. I have an old lamp that I took the cord off of, but there is only 2 cords, pos neg. The new fan has 3. white, black, and green. the black is the hot wire, and the green is grounded to the metal of the fan, and the white I am not sure of. I just want to know how to wire this plug to this new fan. if anyone knows how to do this please get back to me. Any help will be greatly appreciated. once again thank you.
- you recognize the strategies of ways a furnace works so i'm assuming you basically opt to comprehend if in-line followers artwork. i've got put in them to help heat up a single room and it raised the temperature some ranges which became sufficient for me. this would sound stupid yet in keeping with threat truly of putting in a 12 inch in-line fan to flow air in the process the main significant duct, you install a pair of smaller 6 inch followers in strategic rooms on your upstairs and it does no longer be as great so a techniques as static tension is worried. basically a concept, wish it helps.
- Q: what wires connect from the vehicle to the a/f sensor
- Why do u want to know what wires go to the sensor? If you have a code for the a/f sensor..99 % of the time it is an open in the sensor itself. On rare occasion there are others like a chewed wire by a rodent. But I would just recommend replacing the a/f sensor. And i u were to follow the wires from the male connector they would lead you to a big wire harness that basically just all ends up at the ECU. Just in case u wanted to know.
