Q: I just purchased a Dyson DC 24 vacuum cleaner. The power cord is ridiculously short (claimed to be 20'...don't think so!) Some rooms can't be completely vacuumed with just one plug in to a receptacle. I'm thinking of replacing the existing cord with a longer one (30'). Is this something I can get at the local hardware store, Home Depot, etc? What gauge cord is required?
Hi its Darran at Dyson. I am sorry to hear that the power cord on your new DC24 Dyson vacuum cleaner is not quite long enough for your particular needs. The Dyson DC24 is our lightest and most compact upright vacuum cleaner and as a result the power cord is slightly shorter than on other models in our range. We would not recommend replacing the power cord on your machine as this will invalidate the Dyson warranty. Should you have any further queries regarding your DC24 or your warranty, please do not hesitate to contact our Helpline on 1866MYDYSON. Kind regards Darran Dyson Customer Service
Q: is there a way i can get him out or he is pretty much dead? he went up thru the tube extention thingy while i was vacuuming on accident so help me please
it would really depend on what sort of vacuum you have. if he IS alive, the sooner you get him out the better, cause he could very quickly sufficate in all the dust. if he IS dead... well, a lot of vacuum cleaners have little choppy bits to deal with the biggest bits, so... be careful of what you might find. it might not be pretty. i'm assuming you weren't so stupid as to vacuum the floor really close to the snake, right? were you being really lazy and vacuuming out his tank without taking the time to move him out of it first? i've done that with my geckos i moved my geckos though) and the extra crickets are often seen jumping around inside the dust bag, alive and annoyed. so seriously, it depends on your vacuum.
Q: Heard this brand was good and lasts but don't feel like paying top dollar for a vacuum
It's possible they will be sold by a local store on sale, yes.
Q: I have bought 4 vacuum cleaners in the past that all have fallen apart or just quit running right in the middle of using them, and all were less than 6 months old. I got tired of buying high price vacuum cleaners and them not lasting even 90 days. I have bought Hoover, Eureka, Dirt devil, and Phantom vacuums all of them turning out to be what I would say to be large rip offs.
So okorder /
Q: Do I need to Vacuum up pet hair, etc before I use one of these Bissell Upright Steam Cleaners. I was going to purchase a new Bagless Bissell Pet Hair removal vacuum and the aile over I saw the Bissell Pro Heat cleaners for like 100 bucks more. Can I just get rid of my vacuum and use this steam cleaner instead or do you still need to vacuum before you clean. Or can I use steam cleaners without the water now and then just like a vacuum?
You have to have both. Steam cleaners aren't designed to be vacuum cleaners. (I haven't heard of a dual purpose one yet.) You need a vacuum cleaner for weekly general cleaning in between steaming and you use the steam cleaner for cleaning every couple months or if have a particularly tough stain in carpet or a large house party to clean up after. Or just buy the vacuum cleaner and rent a steamer when you need it. Or hire Stanley Steamer to steam clean for you. The only people who really need to own a steamer and use it frequently are those with white/light carpets and lots of foot traffic and pets.
Q: I'm looking for a picture of the girl dragging the vacuum cleaner around in the movie quot;Oncequot;. I tried using google image search but couldn't find it, maybe I used the wrong keywords. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
okorder good luck.
Q: How much do you think a Kirby Vacuum cleaner goes for in 2008. I had a retailer come to my house and gave me a godawful price..i want to see if his price matches yoursJohn J M
Rip off! Invest in a central vac or even better an iRobot Roomba.
Q: I got this book on spiritual housecleaning and it says to remove any object that may be associated with the devil - and I have a dirt devil brand vacuum cleaner - is this evil and do I need to remove it from my home? The only thing I do with it is vacuum the floor - and I don't have any other use for it.
Cover the word devil with duct tape and replace it by writing vacuum with a sharpie on the tape.
Q: I have a one-year old and lots of crumbs on my floor that our vacuum won't pick up. We currently have a bag less Bissell and I hate it. We've replaced all the filters and cleaned it but it still hardly picks up a thing. It leaves little hair balls on our carpet and kicks dust back in the air. I have to open the windows every time I vacuum so we can breathe! We're looking to get a new vacuum and I am interested in any brand and reviews you can recommend. My parents have had an Electrolux for 10+ years and it works great. However, the price tag ($500) is a little much for me. I'd also rather not go bag less again. Any suggestions?
If you own your home and can afford it, I highly recommend installing a central vacuum. The bags rarely need changing, it makes a huge difference as far as allergies, and they can even install floor vents where you can sweep crumbs into them. Might feel like a big investment, but after 13 years ours works as well as new.
Q: Anyone else have the experience of their dog turns into a raving lunatic when you get the vacuum cleaner out? How can you get him to stop barking?
It is crazy! One dog just hides with the cats-yea! The other used to bark at and try to attack the vacuum and the broom or rake and the leaf blower! I started out just removing the animals when I did these things. Now, when I get out the vacuum, I let them see it and leave space for the hiding one to run to his crate and I tell the other dog to go downstairs, if I'm upstairs, or ask her if she wants to go out. And I did do the teaching not to be fearful of noises, etc., the person quoting Dog Whisperer and all training books describe. But, my goal was to keep them out from underfoot for this, so allowing them to think the vacuum's powers are to be awed, and keep your distance from, was a good thing. I just turned the lunging behavior into one of getting away from me.
