Q: Hi. My sulcata just lay 20 eggs. I have a chick incubator that was given to me. What are the procedure that is needed to incubate my sulcata eggs? I'm been doing some research online some say to incubate them in a closed container, and some say to incubate them in an open container? Can Yahoo Answer provide me with a definite answer as to how to incubate the eggs? Also a exact detail as to what are the procedure and what stuff to look for doing incubation. Do I need to spray mist water on the eggs? Thanks.
I did a quick search for it in Danish and it appears to be called the same: Vermiculite.
Q: i was wondering if anybody knows where i can get vermiculite and perlite and the cost of it...example: say a 5 poung bag of vermiculite how much would that cost?example: same thing with perlite a 5 pound bag for how much?
Potting Soil would be better than Garden Soil in a raised bed like that. It's lighter (made of those things you mentioned - vermiculite, etc.) so it will dry out a bit faster but it will also drain a lot better and if you get a lot of rain/water the thing won't rot. Miracle grow is fortified with a lot of nutrients so you definitely don't want to plant seeds right in the mix or it's possible it will burn and kill the seeds. If you're planting seedlings your safe with MG, just don't fertilize for the first few weeks and after that start with a VERY low concentration and work your way up to full strength. Good luck.
Q: My map turtle laid 3 eggs so far. I am doing an expirement with 2 of them. Meaning I am putting them in a diff container. But I want the other and anymore that will be laid to live how do I hatch them. And will a dent kill it? About how many will she lay?
this is a delicate procedure which takes alot of explaininq you shuld qo to you tube and watch sum videos
Q: HI, I've had an indoor vermiculture bin for the past year under my sink in my apt. The worms have done so well the past year, that they need a bigger home. I would like to move them outside out our 3rd floor patio, but I am worried about the extreme hot and cold and raining weather of Chicago. Is there a home I can buy, or create that would insulate against this?
It's probably fine -- just keep it moist. However, it has no nutrients in it, so you're essentially going to need to supply everything, including micronutrients. Also, because it's so light weight, plants with much upper growth, like tomato, will just tip over and pull out. Is there a particular reason you want to use just vermiculite? If you're going for soilless culture, I'd use straight sand before vermiculite.
Q: what are the temps for the incubator and what is the humidity ive got the hovabator and i bought a digital thermometer where do i put it do i put in in the vermiculite or on top ive got bearded dragons thanks
Well I would not put mine into the same tank because I would not want to have the chance for the male to kill the babies or and suicide to happen
Q: from these materials, which three are the top BEST insulators? and explain why.fiberglass, wool, bubble gum wrap, foam, steel wool, polystrene, plastic, rubber, wood, aluminum, silver wrapping of chocolate bar, rockwool, cellululose, polyurethane foam, extruded polysterene foam, expanded polystrene foam, polyisocyanurate foam, and vermiculitebest answer gets 10 points, i SWEAR :D thx
I use reptile carpet to prevent impaction. In many cases, Calci-Sand has been reported to have caused impaction. However, it is not alone; any type of pellets (such as Rabbit Pellets), pebble-like substrates, and several dried plant-based substrates are also known to present a high risk. Play sand can also cause impaction if it is ingested on a regular basis, or if a great deal of it is ingested at one time. But if you want to use sand use play sand but feed it in a different tank.
Q: i have no sign now, but i am worried about my lungs . how can i deal?
There are a variety of different forms of asbestos. Most of the forms are not particularly dangerous, but the dangerous forms are really bad. The worst form is vermiculite, which was sold as insulation for houses. This stuff looks like small pieces of popcorn made out of mica. So, unless you were exposed to vermiculite, chances are you will never have a problem. Also, it usually takes chronic exposure to asbestos over several years to cause lung problems (but there are rare exceptions). You can't undo what's been done, so all you can do at this point if you are concerned is to make an appointment with a pulmonary specialist and get a chest x-ray. The doc can recommend a schedule for monitoring your lungs - maybe chest x-rays every 7-10 years.
Q: Can vermiculite be used as insulation around a chimney liner?I have been told vermiculite expands 30x when heated. Can I use it safely around my chimney liner, and how do I know how much to put in?
They both work. So do absorbent cotton and sphagnum (my favorite).
Q: What would be a good soil to keep my very small 1 inch Coast and Dawn and Giant Sequoias in? Would it be something like regular potting soil, vermiculite, or peat or something else? What soil should I keep them in? I know it should have acidity, but is regular Miracle Gro potting soil Acidy enough?
Shultz moisture plus soil. the power to deliver aad even out the moisture in the soil.
