2.Vermiculite Introduction:

Our vermiculite, we have both crude vermiculite and exfoliated vermiculite in two types: one is Silver-grey type ( Fe2O3 content around 5-8%, similar with South Africa vermiculite); the other type we call Golden-yellow type (Fe2O3 content around 16-23%, similar products with India and Australia). The white type mainly used in refractories/insulations, the golden yellow type mainly used in agriculture and horticulture. If used for agriculture and horticulture, we suggest you use golden vermiculite, because its PH is 6.5-7.2, for silver gray vermiculite, its PH is 8.5-9.5, that's to say, compared with silver vermiculite, golden vermiculite is more neutral. In Japan, Korea market, our customers choose golden vermiculite used for agriculture and horticulture.

Q:I just bought a house with a half dead lawn that requires lots of water. The soil here has lots of clay in it and as a result, doesn't hold water well and needs excessive watering to keep a lawn green. My neighbor lives on a hill and reseeded his whole yard only to have his back yard (uphill) die on him because all the water ran down hill. Question is, how would I use vermiculite, perlite, or anything else to help my lawn retain water? I have used Scott's turf builder in an attempt to spread the roots of the grass and my lawn looks 100% better, but it still needs lots of water :(
Can have asbestos in it, especially in the past.
Q:what is chemicals are in the soil around volcanoes that makes it so fertile. website link acceptable (:?
its 2/3 cup vermiculite, 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup brown rice to one jar. use a 250mil on, mason jar. and there you go. oh and a pressure cooker. You know, you could just buy a mycobag and save yourself the time and the anger of contamination.
Q:how can i NATURALY remove and keep fleas a ticks form my 6 week old kittens there are NO grooming places in my area
I would definitely pick these hard drive space, in TB(terra bites) ram (10 Gb) a good processor (AMD)
Q:I am a bit confused as to where I put the humidity sensor, on top of the perlite, in the perlite or a few inches from it as obviously the perlite will be moister than the atmosphere. Also how deep do I bury the eggs? I have a herpnurseryII, any tips for sucessful hatching?
Well, I like things simple and care free. I very seldom have to mist a box once I set it up until hatching occurs. I don't just put them into the incubator. I put them into clear plastic lidded tubs with a 3 layer of vermiculite. Wet the vermiculite. Squeeze out all the excess water so you have a snowball in your fist. Open your hand and it should hold its shape. Touch it with a finger on the other hand and it should crumble/fall part easily. That's moist enough. Beginners usually make the mistake of keeping the hatching medium too moist. I used to put a small hole in the container top until I lost a few eggs to friggin #%#%#%#$% (censored) fruit fly maggots a few years ago. Now I don't vent the container or tops at all. I open them for a moment every 1-2 wk. to circulate fresh air (they aren't airtight to begin with and I'm not sure that's even necessary). I don't like to bother my eggs. I do as little as possible to them. I don't remove one unless it molds. I never bury an egg. I make a depression with my fingertip about 1/2 as deep as the egg is wide and place it into the depression, Sharpie mark up, then firm the medium snug to the egg, leaving 1/2 the egg exposed. I have two humidity meters in the box but these days, I never even look at them anymore. I can tell from placing a fingertip to the medium if it needs a bit more moisture. If you do need to add some, use a spray bottle and lightly mist the sides (not the eggs), to permit the water to drip down into the medium. It doesn't take much to bring the humidity back up. You don't want to see moisture built up and dripping from the lid - this can drown your embryos. If you feel better using the probe, then you'll want to sit it inside the container, barely seated into the medium long ways. I highly recommend using covered containers. Good luck, and enjoy your new babies.
Q:I am using a good lunch bag with the silver Thermos around it for insulation then a tuba where filled with vermiculite And i added some water (moist) and i keep it by the heat lamp but not directly under it and i keep close watch on the Temperature around 85 and the eggs are just covered enough the see parts of them
If the eggs turn it may drown the embryo. and that they are no longer notably stressful so be careful. it incredibly is the 0.33 undesirable suggestion i've got seen Shane supply interior the ten min i've got been on the computing device
Q:So I am going to attempt to cultivate mushrooms... I was wondering if I could buy perlite and vermiculite at Wal-Mart?Also, are small mason jars hard to come by?
I used vermiculite. There is a good article on this on okorder
Q:I put a hibiscus plant in my chameleons terrariumit did good the first wk, bloomed and everything. But then the leaves and flowers died and fell off. I have moss coverin one half of the pot it‘s in, temp stays between 80-93F during the day, low 80‘s at night. And I have a pro mist system that goes off for a minute every 3 hrs. The soil is miracle grow topped with a forest bed/coconut bark/calci-sand/vermiculite bedding mix. It still tries to grow but once the leaves get full size they die and fall off. What am I doing wrong? Or is it just trying to adjust to its new environment? I live in nw Arkansas if that helps and got the plant from home depot. Thanks to anyone who can help
The plant may have outgrown the terrarium and needs to spread out. You should take it out and repot it or plant it outside. The roots may be waterlogged. How big is this terrarium? It must be huge as Hibiscus get quite large! Try what I suggested, it may have been ok for a bit, but now needs to come out of the terrarium.
Q:Please list down the following substrates from the highest cost to the lowest cost:VermiculiteRye GrainsAgar Petri DishesStrawsManureOther grains? Maybe?Thank you!10 points for the best answer!
It might be. The only way to know for sure is to have her x-rayed. Did you supply her with a laying box? They can become egg-bound if this isn't provided. You can give her a warm water soak to see if that helps.
Q:I am trying to propagate oleander from cuttings, but after a week no roots are visible. I used the newest growth on the plants and cut the leaves short. The cuttings are in water and the lowest sets of leaves were removed so that the nodes are in the water. They have been kept indoors in a spot that gets some indirect light. Should I have roots growing already? Also, is there a better way of doing this?
Put in soil with vermiculite and/or sand. Start over. Dip in rooting hormone and put in soil. 3 tall cuttings of new growth are best. It could take a year on some plants to grow roots. Be sure the soil you use is sterile so nothing in it will cause rot.
Q:I have a 16 x32 Inground pool with steel walls and vermiculite bottom. I am getting a new liner installed tomorrow and the pool guy drained the pool yesterday. We are getting a lot of rain today and Im worried about the ground water affecting the bottom, like it is going to push out the vermiculite bottom. Is this something to be worried about? Also the pool guy says he is going to have the old liner ripped out and the new one ready for water in 1 ? hours. Is this possible? He thinks I have water leaking into the bottom underneath the liner already. Is that a big deal? Another thing he said was that he was going to cut in the main drain in the center of the deep end before they start to add water. I thought you had to put about 12” of water in before you cut the main drain in to insure that it is seated properly and the liner stretches correctly. Anyone who could ease my mind on some of these questions, your knowledge would be appreciated.
