- I agree with the other posts that you should have him evaluated for a urinary tract infection. Sometimes cats will pick a place that you're sure to notice because they're in distress. UTI's are very treatable but you need to take him asap to rule this out. Also, I agree, if you can't throw the rug in the wash, then I would throw it away. Cats tend to go back to the same place to pee. I also read somewhere that rugs with a rubber backing are more likely to attract peeing cats - something about the smell. Even though we can't smell the rubber scent, I'm sure that cats can. Good luck!

- Yes they do, but only for maintnence jobs. If your carpet is really bad and stained I would get it professionaly cleaned, then buy one of those carpet cleaners to maintain it every 2 months or so.
- Q:I want to put a rug down in the middle of my living room that has laminate wood floor. I have a couple of larger dogs that tend to run aound on occasion. The current rug has a smooth back and slides when they skid to a stop on it. The replacements that I've looked at all have the jute back and I'm concerned that when they cause this type to slide across the floor, over time it will behave like sandpaper and scuff the floor. I know I can put a rubber anti slip pad on the back to prevent some of it, but won't it still eventually scuff the wood laminate over time around the edges?

- I think it's mainly personal preference. Carpeting does make the floor warmer---and is much softer on the feet. It comes in a rainbow of hues so it can be utilized to co-ordinate with your decorating scheme. I prefer carpeting because of these reasons but mainly because it is much easier to maintain than hardwood floors. Spills must be wiped up immediately to prevent permanent spots and warping at the seams of hardwood floors. It is much simpler in my estimation to run a sweeper and/or carpet shampooer than to re-finish and buff wooden floors.
