- Q: We have a fairly large area rug in our living room but over time it has become wrinkled. I don't want to buy a new one yet, so how can we get it to lay flat against the carpet and not bunch up with stubborn wrinkles anymore?
- Do NOT wet the rug if you do not know what the fiber content is. Silk and wool for example may shrink. Use carpet tape to secure it flatly to the floor. It will take a couple of people, remove any furniture inhibiting its placement. Lay out the rug where you want it and have 4 people shuffle the rug out to the corners and stand there using their body weight as anchors. Tape the edges about 12 inches in at a diagonal. Have another person literally use double sided carpet tape found at the home improvement center tape 3-5 inches in from the edge of the rug by folding the edges in, applying the tape and having all four people shuffle that end to the tape line. Yes, you will have the corners anchored with tape diagonally and then again 3-5 inches from the sides above that. This helps edges to keep from curling or becoming trip hazards. Once the carpet is stretched and anchored with the tape, you will not encounter stubborn wrinkles UNLESS you move furniture by sliding it and not picking it up completely off the rug to move it.

- I think to sell your carpet, you should show rooms with ambiance that does justice to your carpet. Like for example, traditional carpets look great in family rooms, formal dining rooms as well as living rooms. I don't know what your carpet looks like but I think I can already tell it is a great one for a living room where guests come or formal dining if the size is large. It should show how durable the carpet is and how it is any different from carpets being sold on the market. What comparative advantage do you have over other carpet sellers? Whom would it benefit and why should someone buy your carpets?

- Q: I have to enlarge a raised hearth into a living room. It is already a 12quot; wide x 57quot; rectangle, 8quot; high, into the room with the carpet stretched to tack strip to the old design. I have to make it 10quot; wider into the room to meet code for the fireplace. How should I cut the carpet so that it can be stretched to the new design? - how long is the project going to take? if it is just going to be a few days and you plan on someone getting a stretcher and stretching the carpet back in the new place,I would just pull all the carpet back from one side of the wall,where the herth is, and then put it in and let the carpet guys go from there.... they will also have to take up the old tackwood and put new around the hearth so that would make it a lot easir for them...... if for some reason,like the room is to odd shaped you can't do it like that just allow a couple inches in from the measurements of the new hearth on the carpet and rough cut it...........

It's a great time to spread a bead of caulk into any cracks in the cement floor. The cracks can allow insects in if they get too big.
