- Q: A horizontal current-carrying wire, free to move in Earth’s gravitational field, is suspended directly above a second, parallel, current-carrying wire. (a) In what direction is the current in the lower wire? (b) Can the upper wire be held in stable equilibrium due to the magnetic force of the lower wire? Explain.I assume they travel in opposite directions if they are both charged the same, but I think my instructor wants something more specific. Any help is much appreciated.
- Current carrying wire does not have extra charge but only flow So there is no electrostatic force between them. The magnetic force is present only when current flows through both wires. If it flows in the same direction then they attract. So if the lower wire is fixed and you wish to suspend the above it must repel it to overcome the gravitational force due to earth acting on it. Hence the wires must carry currents in opposite direction.
- Q: I have DirectWay and have a wireless router. I recently hardwired my computer in because I kept losing signal. The distance between my computer and the router is about 30 ft. But since I hardwired my computer in, it seems slower than when I ran the wireless adapter, i.e downloading videos and music. I was under the impression that wired was faster. What gives????
- That's odd that you said wired seems slower. Generally the wireless connection is the slower of the two. I've never seen wireless faster than wired if all things are equal. Perhaps something else is causing the slow down. Don;t know what to tell you to check. Is your eathernet cable good quality? the 30 ft distance is pretty short and shouldn't cause a slow down. Hope that helps
- Q: DO i TWIST THE WHITE AND RED SMALL WIRES TOGETHER UNDER THE WIRE NUTS ON AC WIRING TO THE CONDENSER?
- There will be two wires in the unit. The low voltage wires (white and red) attach one to each of the wires in the control box on the unit. There will be a wiring diagram on the inside of the ac unit access panel. Shut the power off first. Also, after you hook them back up, it may still not work. It is possible that the control fuse blew on the indoor unit. For a step by step troubleshooting guide, check out my source.
- Q: I am replacing my garbage disposal. I have black, white wires and a black/yellow wire. How do I connect this black/yellow wire. Is this a hot wire as well?
- if you do not have a circuit tester then it is time to buy that $3.00 item === it is a little glow light that will be a dim light at 110volts and a brighter light at 220volts -- has two wires with metal ends and can help you with the disposal and wall sockets or other connections ... any hardware store has this tester. NOW ... we deal with the blk/yellow wire -- it is possible that it is a ground, or it is a hot wire or it could be to a GFIC [[ ground fault interrupter circuit ]] that is in the home panel -- OR -- who knows about the electrician that was the original wiring person --- most I have ever seen in wires to a disposal is two [2] wires a blk and a wht == this is a common mistake that most DIYers make .. they do not take the time to make full investigation and label wires as they take things apart .... get the tester as that is the cheapest way to solve also look at panel for the GFIC or call an electrician ,,,,,,,,, respectfully,,, XTX
- Q: The drawing shows two long, straight wires that are suspended from the ceiling. The mass per unit of length of each wire is 0.050kg/m. Each of the four strings suspending the wires has a length of 1.2m. When the wires carry identical currents in opposite directions, the angel between the strings holding the two wires is 15 degrees. What is the current in each wire?? Im not sure what equations to use for this problem.
- Look at it this way a current I2 causes a magnetic field. if a current I1 is in a magnetic field then a force acts on it. F=I1*B*dl where B=I2*(mu0)/(2*pi*d) So the force between those two wires is given by this equation F=I1*I2*(mu0)*dl/(2*pi*d) mu0=4*pi*10power7 d the distance between them In this case I1=I2 dl which shows the lenght of the wire in the magnetic field equals 1 because you do not care about it's lenght from here on it is rather simple I hope
- Q: I get how to solder one wire to the inverter, but how do I do multiple wires? Do I connect end-on-end, or all at the same source? I couldn't find a good website for doing multiple wires...
- EI is very easy, you can do them either way, all that you need to assure is the voltage gets into the wire. So end to end or all direct to the inverter either way works just fine. My problem is getting the wire exposed, it takes me more than one shot at it, lol..
- Q: 2 wires and ground to oven with 3 wires and ground
- You gotta know if the oven is supposed to be a 240 VAC input ... or? and what is the three wires ground a three phase circuit? you had best know for sure before you go connecting anything.
- Q: I have just learned how to make some pretty cool bracelets out of telephone wire and i would like to know where to find more telephone wire. Could someone tell me where i might be able to find some?

- Q: Also what are FORD RACING 9MM SPARK PLUG WIRES i would be putting these on my Bronco....what do they do....do i need them?
- Spark plug wires. The Ford 9mm wires are bigger then the normal 7mm ( I think ) wires. And when you have bigger then normal wires, the wire separaters that hold the wires on the valve covers need to also be bigger, hence the wire looms. No, you don't need the larger wires until you add to the ignition system and increase it's electrical capacity. But they do look better. Probably can get regular size wires in the Ford blue, too.
- Q: hi i have been wondering what to get Wireless or Wired for my Xbox 360 the xbox is about 30 feet away for the router. the router is a sagem router which sky provide me with and if i am going to go wired i will use a netgear etlernet HUB mainly what i want is a fast internet link hoping for lag free connection my contract with sky has ended and now i can switch what internet supplier sould i switch to
- Mostly wired because wireless lags sometimes or the connection gets bad.
