Q: Home decoration, to the building materials market to buy wood flooring, to hear more business description of heavy ants wood is oily, better! However, the color of heavy ants I do not like, I prefer two wings and bones of the heart of the book to fly yao read Yue Sao advocate nature, I ask why the oil is good, two wings beans oily? More
Natural oily can no longer brush the floor paint, the moisture has some help, in addition to anti-dry. A kind of oil-filled two-winged beans
Q: Last night around 11:30, my dad woke up and told my mom to clean the floors. He said it was a mater of life and death, and when she refused, he locked her outside her room. He then slammed my sisters door over and over again and threw random stuff. He then started mopping all the floors over and over again, and opened all the windows. I haven't seen him at all today. What the heck is going on?
If he continues to act this way it could be something serious, if it's stress related it might stop. Either way it's not normal so have an intervention
Q: Dark floor and doors with what color of furniture, curtains with? (Including living room and bedroom)
You can choose to use a white door or a wooden door is good
Q: I have an acid washed concrete floor in my business. I am having a problem with the floor being hazy/dirty after washing. The floor is waxed. When i clean the floor I use 2 buckets of water ... One with neutral floor cleaner and one clean water rinse bucket. After the floor dries it has a haze over it ... if i rub my fingers on the floor the haze goes away but my fingertips become black from the residue ... what can i do to get my floor back to clean ... i get so many compliments on the dirty floor and i cant imagine what they will say once it is really clean ... Any Help Would Be Appreciated ....Thank You
one possibillity is you're using to much neutral floor cleaner, and not rinsing well enough. if as you say the floor is waxed thats about the only likely cause.
Q: We are putting in a brand new kitchen and are on a tight budget so plan to use a laminate floating floor. My question is should we put it down before we install cabinets and appliances, or install those first and then put the flooring around them? My husband wants to floor around them to save money, but I think it would look nicer to have the whole floor covered and then put everything on top. What do you think?
Have you considered the fact that too much water doesn't go well on some floating laminates? We were cautioned to not put that floor in our new kitchen. What if you have a big leak in a pipe, or dishwasher? We have it in the living room, but not kitchen. Consider a tile or linoleum for the kitchen. We chose linoleum that is easy care, handles a bit of water if need be, and looks as tho it was a stone tile. It looks nice, is working out for us.
Q: We have a hydronic in-floor heating system in a slab subfloor that has an engineered wood floor glued on top without a seperating membrane in between. We like to change now to a tile floor. Trying to take the wood floor up we noticed this to be very piece meal like. That glue does not come off easy and I like to find out if anybody has any knowledge in this. Can I leave the wood floor in and install tile over it or do I lose too much heat? Any suggestions on how to remove the wood floor and glue? What probelms with either way?
so the radiant heat is in the concrete slab correct? if yes then i would take up the wood flooring, alot of work but will be worth it. I would think you would have a big heat lost leaving the wood floor on, plus how thick the floor would be after putting tile on top of it. To get the glue off try heating it with a large torch if you have access to one or if you know a plumber. I did this taking up a linoleum floor and it came right up easily. heat the glue just until it gets soft then with a scraper or wide putty knife it should come up. are you doing the tile floor yourself? unless are good at it don't you will want to make sure the floor is prep the right way or you will have problems later. plus if you have a tile guy do it you will have a warranty with the job------------good luck with it
Q: How much is the floor loss? Who is it?
This is difficult to say, the main and pavement methods, floor size and the specific size of the room to match the degree, and laying area (the larger the relative loss rate is lower), the attitude of the installation workers related. In theory, it is 3%, generally home improvement certainly more than 10% are not surprising. The basic floor of the owners are the owner of the material, the loss of course, often defeated pound with aldehydes with all the owners.
Q: we have a floor that is not level. The one side of the room is 1 and 1/2 inch lower than the other. This is a 200 year old home. We are wondering if we can use one of the floor leveling agents over top of the vinyl flooring that is glued down already, then put down a new "no glue" vinyl floor over it?Thank you, Cheri
No. Floor leveling compound will not adhere well to the old vinyl and I don't believe it should be applied 1 and 1/2 thick because it would shrink and crack when drying. Drying time would be excessive that thick. I'm thinking it would also be a bit pricey to use so much of it. I don't know how big the area is,but if it was me I'd first mark the low and high spots all the way around the room. The old floor joist should be on 16 centers. So from the low part of the floor you need to cut long wedges (out of 2x4,or 2x6,or 2x material) that taper from 1 1/2 (Minus the thickness or the new flooring underlayment),to nothing at the lowest point in the room, fasten that down, move over 16,measure the thickness needed and repeat the process. Run the wedges the same direction and on top of the original flooring joists. Hope this helps you.
Q: My condo is on the 3rd floor & I'm looking to replace the 3/4 white oak floor with 5/8 strand woven bamboo. After removing some of the oak I have found that the sub-floor is a concrete slab (I'm unsure of the thickness) covered by 1/8 of insulayment underlayment. On top of that are two(2) layers of 3/8 plywood screwed to eachother with 3/4 screws. The plywood is not attached to the 1/8 insulayment mat or the concrete slab in any way. So my first question is, is this normal floor construction? My seconod question has to do with the fact that there appears to be green mold between the plywood planks & behind the baseboard. Should I be worried? Thanks in advance. I appreciate any help you can offer.
You should be worried about the mold. Although it doesn't sound like a wide spread and only in specific areas. In New York City high rises the wooden floor sits right on top of the concrete slab (with glue) and acts as a pretty good insulation. The extra insulation might be helpful especially in northern states where temperatures fall sharp below freezing. You can safely remove everything and place your new floor right over the concrete. BUT make sure to clean the mold well enough. Mold cleaning and odor removing can be done in two stages. 1. Regular household vinegar can remove odors. And 2. chlorine will kill the molded areas.
Q: I am installing a bathroom but have been advised to only use wood, not tile or ceramic, flooring directly on top of the concrete because the tile will crack. What are my options?? The basement is poured if that makes a difference.
Concrete is a great base for tile. However, if you have areas where you patched new concrete next to old, it will crack at the joint. In this event, use a crack supression under the tile. I am all for laminate in the basement. However, I would discourage in a bathroom due to the large amount of water. Check out this website for a product to put down under the tile.
