- Your best bet is Murphy's Oil Soap, mixed as directed for floors. Use hot water and a well-wrung mop so that the floor dries quickly. If that doesn't work, or you want another solution, then keep in mind that you need to find something strong enough to cut the oil in the orange glo, without damaging the wood floor. Hot water with a tiny amount of dishwashing liquid (not enough to need rinsing) or hot water with a cup of vinegar would both be safe for your floor, and might remove the oil with a few tries. In the future, don't use any furniture polishing products on the floor, in addition to problems like this, the floor will be slippery and dangerous to walk on.
- Q:I'm under the impression that most housings in the US got carpets on the floor - not just a regular sized carpet, but like the floor it self is a carpet. know what I mean? Like why would one want a floor, completely covered with a layer that is hard to remove, easily gets singed if you spill, and never >80% clean?
- Some people prefer carpet because of the feeling on the feet. Carpet is also cheap . Myself I have hardwood floors throughout most of the house. In the kitchen I have engineered floor made of rubber. It is easy to walk on and yet almost impossible to scratch. To me carpets are nothing but dirt traps and odour traps. My son has allergy problems and we took out the carpets his problems almost disappeared. Actually carpets are easy to take out. But I would never have any installed. Too hard to clean

- You also may have to trim down the doors a bit if you raise the level of the floor too much.) Your oak floor actually looks great and just needs to be refinished. The wood looks nice and tight (no gaps or visible defects) and has a nice grain pattern. Have you considered just refinishing the floor? It would involve sanding the floor down to bare wood and applying a new finish. I would cost next to nothing compared to installing a new cherry floor (though I also really like the look of the brazilian cherry; for some reason the HGTV link you posted didn't work, I just did a search for Brazilian Cherry on HGTV and found the Classic Tuscan Kitchen episode). Sanding a floor is messy work and can be a bit tricky if you use a drum sander. A drum sander can oversand a floor quite quickly but works great in the hands of a pro. You also need to cover everything as wood dust will get everywhere. There are other types of sanders you can rent (I've used a 4 disc sander to refinish a floor) that are not as aggressive as a drum sander but they do take longer to sand. Even hiring a pro to sand and refinish the floor would most likely be much less expensive than buying new wood. But if you have the coin and are set on switching to cherry you can certainly install a new floor over the old floor provided the old floor is in sound condition (not loose and warped).

- idk. if you have hard wood flooring then you could buy some clear stain then add a bunch of glitter to it? that'll work... other wise i have never heard of glittery flooring?

- Floor functions don't have removable discontinuities, they have jump discontinuities. If you're referring to the greatest integer function, ?x?, that would be a floor function, which is closed on the left, open on the right [a, a+1), { a | a ∈ ? }
