Q:throw rug: backing dried up and crumbled; any way to rehab the rug?
The only thing you can do is buy that non-slip stuff they sell to keep rugs from moving on the floor, and lay the rug down on that. But when you go to wash the rug, all that stuff will still crumble and fall off into your washing machine.
Q:Does scrubbing the carpet floor work?Question Details:Right now, my dad is scrubbing the carpet with a carpet cleaner.Well, he is applying the liquid and scrubbing over it and drying it.Does that damage the carpet? He's not even using the machine and the carpet still looks dirty.I think that using that carpet machine is better but my dad doesn't find it necessarySo?.
Scrubbing the carpet manually soaks the padding under the carpet and causes mildew. If he wants to clean carpet himself, he should use a mop (yes, a mop) and scrub his carpet with that. I do it monthly because I have a very light carpet + 3 children = a mess. I pretreat the carpet stains with either Shout Out or a stain remover. After that settles, I mop the carpet using elbow grease on the stains (like coffee) and after the floor is finished it looks new.
Q:Hi! Were purchasing new carpet for our mobile home. They sell a pad to for an extra cost. Never bought carpet before. Is the pad something we really need? Thank you
Deffinitally want to use new pad. Unless, you want to buy glue down carpet. They sell both but a glue down carpet is more of a commercial carpet. You can get different types of pad if you want to go with something cheaper it might not be as thick but would still be sufficient. If you are going to use glue down then make sure your subfloor surface is smooth and clean.
Q:I got a rug burn on my toe Monday and not quite sure how to treat it. When I looked up how to treat rug burns, every site said that they were like 1st degree burns or a sunburn and should be pretty much treated the same way. However mine is open and for the first few days, was leaking pus and a clear liquid. It hasn't healed up yet and I have been treating it as a cut. It fizzes when peroxide is applied but today didn't do it as much (and hurts much less). Am I doing the right thing? Also is there a cool trick to get a band aid to stay on my toe? The burn is at the joint that is the foot equivalent of a knuckle.
Use Aloe Vera gel. It will help it to heal faster. Keep it around, it's great stuff. Or you can buy an Aloe plant and cut a leaf and rub the gel on.
Q:What size is the carpet of 0.4-0.6?
If it is highly and fully laid, it is 4 meters wide; but if is caculated by the area, it is below
Q:I have light carpets (builder special!) and a 2 yr. old and a 4 yr. old. I keep them clean (the carpets and the kids!), but hate to pay for the professional carpet cleaners all that often. I often use Woolite OXY Clean, but I just keep finding more spots. Seems a daily battle. Does anyone know a quot;home remedyquot; I can use to spot remove? I have tried Oxy Clean, and even tho my carpet it light it has bleached some places.
Hope this helps Good Luck ! Carpets/Upholstery: 1) A great non-toxic carpet stain remover is club soda. Soak spot immediately with soda and blot until the stain is gone. 2) Pet Urine on Carpets: Dab area with toweling to absorb as much as possible, wash spot with liquid dish detergent, and rinse with 1/2 cup vinegar diluted in 1 qt warm water. Lay towels or paper towels over the spot and weight down to absorb excess moisture. Let stand 4 to 6 hours, then remove toweling, brush up nap and allow to dry completely. Use an electric fan to speed drying. 3) Red wine stains can be removed from carpet by rubbing baking soda in and vacuuming. 4) Sprinkle cornstarch onto carpet, vacuum. 5) To remove grease spots from carpets, first sop up the liquid with a sponge, then rub a liberal amount of baking soda into the spot. Let it absorb overnight. Next day, remove the excess and vacuum the area. 6) To remove grease spots from carpets, first absorb excess with a sponge, then rub a liberal amount of corn starch into the spot. Let sit overnight, then vacuum. 7) Dry cornstarch sprinkled on rug and vacuumed. 8) Carpet Fresher 4 cups baking soda or cornstarch 35 drops Eucalyptus essential oil 30 drops Lavender essential oil 25 drops Rosewood essential oil or any combination of your favorite essentail oils Measure 4 cups of baking soda into a bowl, add essential oils. Break up any clumps that form, stir until well mixed. Before vacuuming sprinkle powder from a shaker type can or jar. Let it sit on the carpet for about 15 minutes then vacuum. 9) Herbal Carpet Freshener 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup lavender flowers Crush the lavender flowers to release their scent. Mix well with baking soda and sprinkle liberally on carpets. Vacuum after 30 minutes. 10) Sprinkle baking soda on carpets before vacuuming for a natural rug deodorizer
Q:hi im 14 and love stuff for my room, i just got it re-painted and i got new things for it, today i purchased a rug from Home sense, its 5 by 7 and really nice, it was $159 canadian dollars but was originally(get this) $300!it was made in china and says its hand made the brand/company is:Momeni its soft and pretty but all the rugs there were made in India and stuff...what do ui do..its non-refundable.
It's too cheap a rug to be hand made by children. Those types of rugs cost in the thousands. And don't trust that anything in China is hand made in the sense that you are asking. Just because a different culture has different labor laws does not mean you shouldn't buy the product. If you had to gauge each of your purchases on that basis you wouldn't be buying anything these days. Everything we buy is made overseas and in each instance no one is paid what you would consider fair wages and no one cares in those countries who makes it. When poverty runs so high, everyone has to work and they are glad of it. So lose the high moral ground attitude and enjoy the rug.
Q:How did persian rug weaving begin ?
When did rug weaving begin? It is not known exactly when rug weaving began. In 1949, a team of Russian archaeologist, lead by S. I. Redinko were excavating in the Altai Mountain Valley of Siberia. Here, they uncovered the tomb of a Pazyryk prince who had been buried in the Fifth Century B.C.
Q:Do most people prefer carpet over hardwood/vinyl/linoleum?Carpets collect dust hair mites and all things gross.. and you have to vacuum which costs money.. not to mention hard work and is loud and annoying. Also, many Americans wear shoes in their homes. So why would you want a flooring that collects the dirt on the bottom of your shoes? When has home carpeting become generalized standards for most homes? Anybody know?
It's cheaper. It's more comfortable. It's less work to maintain. I wouldn't buy (or rent) a home without it.
Q:Just moved. Livingroom has off white walls solid wood flooring which is a golden oak color. Am buying olive off white livingroom furniture, but need to know what colors would go well for a large rug? The curtains are also green, but more pale. I'm not picky about the style rug; can be contemporary to Oriental, as long as the colors look good.
I would go for a shag pile, string coloured rug.
