Q:My parents bought one for $1500 and I haven't noticed any difference. It seems a $300 dollar one could do just as good a job: I have one the bags are horrifically expensive, so I try not to use it if I can get away with it.

Q:My roommate is allergic to cats, and when I got my kitty I told her that if her allergies got too bad, I'd send him to live with my dad, but I do NOT want to do that and am trying to find a good vacuum for someone with allergies. I'm looking for something with a HEPA filter. Can be bagless or have bags. I'd really prefer an upright to a canister. Looking in the price range of $60-$200, but willing to hear suggestions for more expensive models. MUST HELP REDUCE ALLERGENS!!: Most bagless vacuum cleaners have HEPA filters. You should be able to just go to your local target/wallmart/sears and pick one out. Another thing you can do to help is buy an air purifier for your roommate's bedroom. Most styles are basically a fan that pulls air through a HEPA filter. It would do a lot of good because allergy symptoms are usually worst in the morning right after someone wakes up since the person has been laying down sleeping which makes them prone to congestion.

Q:Selling vacuum cleaners: Start looking now. Just quit as soon as you find another job. No reason to give notice if its never gonna show up on your resume, but you still need to pay bills until you find something better.

Q:i need something cheap too: With allergies, buy any one in your price range as long as it has a hepa filter. They filter finer particles than a regular filtered vac. For a reasonably priced name for a starter vac, check the Dirt Devil brands

Q:In the last three months I have purchased two separate vacuum cleaners from Wal-Mart.....granted they were cheap...but they were also all I could afford. U can get it at best buy for like $53. It is easy to operate and doesn't use many bags. For as long as i can remember ( so about 8 yrs.) my family has had an eureka and for 7 of those years we had the same one with virtually no problems. until the last year when it started clogging a bit. This one is AWESOME and the color is adorable. I works very well. Hope this helps

Q:Our Dyson Slim just broke down after two years of great clean-up... upon taking it in to a DYSON SPECIALIST... he informed us we needed to change the filters yearly as well as have a yearly maintenance check... I have never heard of this before, so I wanted to check into it to see if he was being truthful!: We have a Dyson and this is the first I have heard of it. I read the manual when we got it too. Is this guy trying to drum up business? Most vacuum cleaners you can do your own maintenance by keeping them clean.

Q:Combines the cyclonic suction of a Dyson but utilizes a bag?I've used Dyson's (never owned one) and they have tremendous suction power, but I absolutely HATE the bag-less containers because when I empty them the dust goes everywhere and eventually you have to clean the containers and those filters inside.If there isn't anything that combines the best of both worlds, what upright (bag using) vacuum do you recommend as the best for a single floor mid-sized house?I really desire something that can get up close against the edge of the carpet and the side-boards and has good consistent suction power.: Dyson probably makes the best bagless vacuum available, closely followed by the Shark Navigator. I've never experienced mess issues with either of these vacuums while emptying them, however further use of the garbage can after the fact can stir the dust quite badly. For this reason I recommend emptying a bagless canister into a separate garbage bag, carefully folding the top over a few times, then putting that into your trash or directly into your refuse bin outside. Cheap knock-off bagless vacuums such as those made by Eureka don't work well to begin with and are horrendously messy to service. The pros of a bagless vacuum is that they do not hold odors like bag vacuums do, and they're easier to empty/service than most bag vacuums are. There are no bags to buy either, which depending on the brand you choose, can be quite expensive. Bag vacuums alleviate the dust issues, but still require the filters be serviced at regular intervals. Filter maintenance is part of vacuum ownership, as is cleaning the brush roll periodically to maintain optimal performance. The real downfall of bag vacuums is poor odor control, particularly if you have pets.
