- These are dangerous peices of equipment, they endure high stress and are at times pushed to the physical limits. I have on occassion worked with and under them and always had a lot of respect and always felt safer when away from them. Construction cranes in particular are more dangerous because they are forever changing in height,position, amount and type of load. Cranes in permanent installations are ususlly carrying same or similar loads. Construction sites are hazardous due to many factors but just about everything on site gets handled by the crane at one time or another. Inspection,inspection, and re-inspection with concurrent correction/adjustment are the only preventative measure availble beside the assurance of competency of the operator. There are plenty of laws about them already but this is not to say new ones might be justified as new hazards become apparent. Most terrorists are too dumb or lazy to get involved with cranes--why bother when so many easy targets are out there !!!!!!!!

- I just watched that movie last night :) I would say that Crane is a criminologist which is the the scientific study of crime and criminal behavior and law enforcement. In which you would need to study psychology and sociology. Many colleges also have a criminology major. If not, then I would say that he is a psychiatrist (a medical doctor that deals with workings of the mind) who is used as a consult by the Gotham City Police Department. To be a psychiatrist, one needs a medical degree, and to also study psychology and sociology. However, to by a psychologist, you don't need the medical degree. I want to major in psychology, so I've done this research haha. Hope this helps!

- I am sorry I do not know where are you from as different country might have different requirement on getting a Crane Operator licence. Anyway, I believe the basic is the same: You need to attend a theory class on crane operations which usually include topics like design theory of cranes, slinging and lifting, signalling. After this, there will be a practical session to test your understanding and practical operations on an actual crane in the training center's facility. Good Luck and May You Attain You Dream :)
