Q:Can someone go into detail on this air force job? Don't just give me a website, I'm looking for actual experience or reasonable knowledge of this field. Would a civilian career be any good with this field? Please let me know! :)
Hello. I retired some years ago from the AF with 24 years of service. The entire 24 years, I was in aircraft maintenance. The field that you are interested in is part of the aircraft maintenance field. There are several other jobs in that field such as airframe, engine, and areas such as communication, fire control, navigation, etc. Any job on the flightline is not a 9-5 job. Lots of 12-16 hour days, and 7 days per week will be in your future. Aircraft maintenance people are among the first to deploy to any war zone. You understand that in the military there is no such thing as calling in sick or being late for work. No matter what anyone else tells you, this is not like anything else that you have ever done. The good part is that every day is different and a new learning experence for you. Even though you will have to work like a dog most of the time, it will be a good experience for you. After a few years, you will have the confidence to tackle almost anything. As far as a civilian career, almost all aircraft maintenance jobs require a FAA Airframe and Powerplant license. The AF does not provide that to you, it is something that you have to get on your own. Your time in the AF will be as good as you make it. There are lots of rules that you are not used to such as weight and fitness standards. One unique thing about military service is the camaraderie that is hard to duplicate in the civilian workplace. Good Luck!!
Q:Hello all!I know this is a crazy ideaBut I wanna try and build a mini automobile where a person could travel here and there :D I've already planned this but what are the basic requirements I need to engage in this project? I mean apart from the basic structure of the system, what are the main electronic devices and mechanical equipment I need to engage in this? I haven't done anything like this before but I think I have adequate experience. If someone could explain the basic concepts to build a mini automobile with the requirements I would be very grateful :)Thank you
i'll tell you my Electrical point of view, you need to calculate the maximum load, and speed and choose the rating of the DC motor, and of course you need to design a driving circuit to control the speed of the motor, u need a gear to reduce the speed of the motor and get higher torque, that's so difficult for you look for something easier :P
Q:can i sell magnetic contactor transformer 24vand where ?
With an accurate description and a couple of good pictures, you can sell just about anything on OKorder. Don
Q:Hey, I need to find out different electrical equipment used in a Beauty Salon and I can hardly think of anything! I can only think of wax pots and tanning beds :S Any other suggestions? Actual answers only please, don't bother writing Do your own homework or whatever because I really can't be bothered with people like that. Like I said I have TRYED and I cannot think of alot. Thankyou :)
I have an easy fool-proof way to figure this out. Look on OKorder. You can see what people are asking and paying for such fixtures and equipment. if you don't see anything for sale, check the completed items. You will be surprised at the information you can find. No doubt you will figure out the fair market value of the items.
Q:Hi,My friend said i need a surge protector for all my electrical equipment otherwise they could mess up?
It should already be built into the laptop. However, you don't need a $100 surge protector, computer stores have many for less than $20 (or hardware stores). Try there first, it wouldnt hurt to have extra protection.
Q:I have a mini (just like 5x6 inch) Lasko personal space heater. It is not originally intended for heating for tanks and cages, but since it is ceramic I was 't sure if it would be okay. It has safety features such as overheat protection and cool touch housing. Would it be good to use in the tank for the snake? He's a baby cornsnake, and the tank is a 29 gallon glass tank (like an aquarium). I already have a heating pad and two heat lamps, but it still won't get warm enough. And I don't want to use central heating to heat the whole house just for his small space. Not to mention, it just stopped working. I know I can get a conventional ceramic heat emitter, but since this is what I have, I'm hoping it will work.
Rule of thumb with reptiles: Never put any heat source inside of the cage. Sounds like the house is fairly cool. What are the wattages you are using for the two lamps and also what are the current temps (day/night)? Please add this detail. I do have a suggestion as to part of the problem. The average 29 gallon tanks are talls, not longs or wides. When tanks are talls, they are harder to heat and maintain that heat.
Q:Conduct regular maintenance tests for the electrical equipment. The following actions should be taken to reduce the probability of potential electrical deficiencies at this facility. The Hazard
potential electrical deficiencies means the possibility that this facility will not work due to electrical problems in other words, future problems caused by lack of maintenance on the electrical equipment. Therefore, the sentence could be rephrased as follows: The following actions should be taken to to make sure all the electrical equipment stays in good working order.
Q:facility, electrical
It almost sounds as though you are asking about a manufacturing plant, so I will answer from that standpoint, This could be an Extremely long list, but I will limit it to major causes. lack of organization, both in personnel and materials inexperience improper equipment/under equipped lack of knowledge outside factors such as shipping/receiving
Q:Before anyone blindly answers this, I'd like to first request that only people in the power transmission industry answer, as they are the only ones likely to know.I have a customer who is asking to mount several very large pieces of electrical equipment 15 feet in the air, mounted to a large structure. All of these equipment pieces are 5000 or more pounds and pad-mount by design. I am questioning this request on the basis of legality. Basically, I am curious to know, is there anything in the NEC that says mounting pad-mount equipment overhead is illegal? If so, I could really use a hint as to what section of the NEC code.
I don't believe that there is anything in the NEC that addresses this. Obviously, installing anything on a structure presents challenges that require the attention of a qualified structural engineer. And depending on the location, you could be facing some additional concerns. You would need to check on seismic activity in the area, and since 'pad mount' equipment has a broad profile, wind-loading could be more challenging if you have a wind-force specification to meet. The other issue you would need to consider is whether installation on a structure presents any particular safety concerns. Without knowing any more, my inclination would be to think that you might want to provide an enclosure around the structure to prevent civilians (rmeaning 'teenagers and drunk college students) from climbing it. Just out of curiosity - why does your client want this? We know that the client is always right - even when he insists to stupid things. I trust there is a good reason for asking for something that is bound to increase installation cost by probably 100%.
Q:I m trying to repair some vintage audio equipment, and I notice these tissue like strips that hold the cables together, without being rolled on. What are those properly called, and do they come in rolls?
Old-style electrical tape was impregnated cloth and not plastic as it is now. There is some still around, it comes in rolls.
