- Q: I am gonna graduate in may with a 2 year degree which would make me a Electronics tech. I already was offered a job with Intell and i plan to work there while i get my bachlor. Is there i difference in the 2? and also Intell offered me 52k to start as a tech, is that good? and how much can i expect to make once i get my 4 year degree? thx
- A tech is somebody who wants to be an engineer.they know what a resistor is but do not know why there is resistancethey know what an op-amp is but not why it has its typical operation. An engineer does the complicated work and tells the tech to solder on the parts. Truth is though most EEs do not even understand EEyou can ask them QA on simple EM topics and they cant answer them.

- Most electronics or electrical devices in the average home only have fuses or circuit breakers as safeguards. They are meant to protect your electrical wiring or prevent fires, not protect the equipment. An electrical surge or spike (they are different things) won't necessarily trip a fuse or circuit breaker, and even if it does, the damage to your equipment may all ready have happened. A surge protector is designed to handle and dissipate this type of event and protect the equipment.

- Main switchboard: Is the circuit panel board that controls both 110v and 12/24 volt lighting and accessories. Much like your panel box at home. Distribution bus bars: When adding anything electrical to a boat, you use a distribution bar located centrally instead of running wires to the batteries or panel box. There is a positive bar and a negative bar. One wire will run from the bar to the battery, and that is how the bar gets power. Most bars contain 6 or 12 screws, and you attach your addition's wires to the bar. Bars can be made to handle both 110v and 12v. Ship service generators: are usually diesel or gasoline powered motors made to produce electricy. Larger boats and ships use generators to power 110v items such as air conditioning, refrigeration, etc when away from the dock. When at the dock, a large power cord is used to feed 110v to the boat, from a dockside power pedestal. Main Engines: Are the engines used to power the boat's forward and reverse movement through the water. Prime mover: is something used within the propulsion system of a ship. It efficiently transfers power from the engine to the drive shaft.similar to a transmission in a carI think, I am not 100% sure on this one. propulsion generators: are geberators that run off the main engine. On a car we use an alternator to produce 12v for lights, etc.but to power 110v items you need a generator. propulsion motors: These could be the same as the Main Engines, or it can mean the motors that power a ship's bow and/or stern thruster, which moves the boat in a sideways direction. Used mainly for docking.

- Umm, someone that earns more than 400,000 is more than just wealthy, and I don't know if just being an electrician is enough. My father is an electrician, and his business is doing very well here in Adelaide (which would be very different than in Sydney). He just keeps on expanding, and I should probably mention that he never had any business training and he never went to uni or anything like that, but he did run another successful business when he was younger. But don't get me wrong, it is great to have that knowledge, it will only make things better. But if its just money you are after, and don't mind the working conditions, I think mining is the better options.

- Firstly, I simply cannot stand it when people use the word of instead of have. For example, You should of been there. That irritates the hell out of me. Other words that annoy me include: Cookie - it just sounds so childish, biscuit is a much better word to use Spoon - as in spooning, like when you are cuddling somebody. It makes an act of intimacy sound like cutlery for heavens sake. Vitamize - meaning, to use a food processor to mix ingredients into a soupy pulp. It has nothing to do with adding vitamins, therefore makes the word sound senseless. Soupy - I just used it two sentences ago and I'm very ashamed of myself. A more appropriate word would of been better.

- Engineers have all doors open to them in both the technical and managerial aspect. With Electrical or Electronics Engineering, you can become a manager of any IT firm or any electricity company. All electrodomestic equipment require as well some sort of electric department which should be ran under an electrical engineer. Construction companies also use electrical engineers to map circuits in houses. Engineers are also suited for business administration and are even preferred over people who studied business management because of their technical knowledge and analytical thinking.

- Certain groups like NASA, the US government, etc have specific requirements for all drawing including electrical drawings. Some engineering companies and industrial companies have standards as well. Basically any engineering drawing has to address to tasks to be done, the materials and equipment to be used, the codes and standards to be met, and any specific requirements that are over and above common practice. A specific requirement might be something like stating the color coding for wiring that could be unsual. Look at the results of a simple online search for more information.
