Q:I am getting my BSEE in a couple months and i'm curious as to what to expect or ask for. I am graduating from a good engineering school (UM Ann Arbor)
Entry Level Electrical Engineer Salary
Q:97 dodge avenger 2.5L V6 front wheel drive 4speed auto. For a little while now i felt a really light jerk type feeling in the engine during light accleration, shruged it off for needing tune-up and plan to take care of it on my next day off. Well today my speedometer droped about 40 MPH then right back to normal. Then a little bit later in the day it's doing the same but also at the same time as that problem the car will jerk like it's trying to stop itself. I then hit a hill where i had to lightly accelrate to keep speed and the jerking i shurged off started again but pretty heavy this time along with the speedometer droping. And then ontop of that the radio kept shutting itself on and off. I have no clue what's going on anymore and if these are related anyone please give me a little advice i'd be very thankful.
If you didn't have the electrical problems, I'd say it was the transmission. Since you have electrical problems, it's more likely that there is a loose or bad connection between your battery and alternator. Your car is 10 years old, so, presumably, you've changed the battery at least once during that time. Since the industry standard is every 5 years, you might be due for a change! With any luck changing the battery will fix the loose cable connection. Of course, it could be the alternator, too, as well as a bad ground. Use a voltmeter with all the appliances running, to see if you get at least 15 volts; it is normal for the needle to oscillate a tiny bit back and forth. If it's below 15 volts, your alternator may need to be replaced, or, a wire is loose at that end. In some cars, low electrical output can confuse the computer. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN HANDLING CAR BATTERIES AND OTHER ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT!!! Good luck!
Q:I'm enlisted and my MOS is 15Y (Armament/Electrical/Avionics Repairer). I'm going to BCT on 20100203 and AIT right after at Ft. Eustis. I'm excited about learning about armament and avionics. I feel proud and privileged to have a chance to work on the numero uno attack helicopter in the world. I want to know how hard it is to get this MOS(no disrespect to other MOS') I have 3 questions in regards to this1) How does 15Y training look like and can I get a head start for the subjects taught right away.2) I would like to go overseas as a first preference, a warzone where I'm needed the most, but also what is the best non combat station to serve in for this MOS overseas and in United States respectively.3) I'm a college graduate(non-citizen pending citizenship in 6 months) and I would like to go to OCS by the end of 2010. Please let me know the best route to do it.Thank you.
The MOS system has changed completely since I was in the Army but I would stay away from MP. The rank is frozen there because there are a lot of people in that MOS and rank is so very slow. Choose a field you can use in the private sector and one where you will make your rank as soon as you have time in grade. Let the Army send you to school and learn a new and useful occupation. Don't go in as a foot soldier. They make rank alright but big deal. Don't listen to the recruiter. He's not there for your benefit
Q:I'm a student looking for things that are involved in R and D aside from Scopes, Logic and Spectrum analyzers, Signal and Waveform generators and VNAs. Things outside of what Tektronix, Agilent and Lecroy would be involved with.
Electronics are so miniaturized these days, you need a good stereo-microscope, and very fine tip'd soldering irons to build and troubleshoot prototype circuits. Also, a machine which cuts lines on copper clad boards is useful for making prototype circuits that need only two sides, such as RF microstrip circuits. If you deal with power circuitry at all, it is good to have electronic thermometers.
Q:Actually in position, we have provided shade for an electrical equipment but sun is hitting during morning and evening. Can it be called as a shaded area?
Outside ambient temperatures are always measured in the shade away from direct sunlight. If your equipment is seeing direct sunlight in normally convective air, then you should use an infared remote sensing thermometer to measure different points on the outside and the inside of the equipment (if possible) to determine the ambient temperature (when exposed to direct sunlight). Alternately, you could place a thermistor, thermocouple, RTD, or semiconductor temperature sensor inside the equipment (always in the shade) and run wire leads outside the equipment container, then measure ambient temperature inside the equipment with a meter on the outside. .
Q:Ever since I was a little kid I could tell when there is a T.V on in a house when I walk by. I get this feeling inside like I can sense the signal or something with my brain. When I walk closer to the T.V the feeling gets stronger. If there is a T.V left on in my house with no sound or picture playing, I am still able to sense that the T.V was left on, and pinpoint the exact room its in without even going inside. Does this happen to anyone else?
I can, too. I just don't know why (I assume it's radio waves). I was in class once (science) during high school and the television behind me was completely black and not making noise, but I could feel it was on. My teacher thought she turned it off with the remote after the morning broadcast, but I could still feel it was on. So when she came over near my side of the room I told her it was still on, so she pushed the off button on the side and it turned off. She asked me how I knew that- if I saw it or heard it. I tried to explain I could FEEL it was on and she looked at me as if I was crazy. So I've always been confused why can some people feel it and some can't? I can feel security tvs at Walmart as well, and pin point their location from the feeling. Anyway, after I tried to explain that to a couple people (friends, family) and everyone gave me weird looks I just decided to keep it to myself.
Q:construction, agricultural, forestry, medical, electrical HVAC etcwhat it will be the best name for a business that it will supply some agency with all kind of equipment ( for all possible industries and activities)
Well a business aproach will definitely be your best bet. Nothing fancy. You should spend some time brainstorming. Maybe check out some other companies name's for inspiration. Maybe stick the last name of the company owner (you?) in part of the name. Basically just spend some time thinking.
Q:I am a freshman electrical engineering student and I have been given an assignment in which I have to write a 2 page paper about electrical engineering drawings. The paper has to include specific requirements for drawings in this field of engineering, any standards that are used, and any drawing codes that should be included in a typical drawing.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You sound pretty smart to be wearing a hat sideways.
Q:I am going to be starting college soon and I would like some input to these two engineering majors. I know I want to pick one of these but I dont know which. I love building things but I also love tinkering with computers and technology. I've read that ECE has a better job outlook as well as a better salary. I think I might like ME because of the hands on although i think alot of it is designing on computers.[. I know I have time to decide in college. Any Help/Opinions??
In terms of jobs, opportunities, money they all are basically equal. The question is what type of problems do you like to solve. I went into Electrical because I aced those chapters in high school physics. Today I solved several problems. I had one phone conference. Help plan a project, work that was to be done, material needed, key people. I made several follow up phone calls to see where key equipment and what calculations were completed. I reviewed a arc flash study, spot checked by hand a few of the computer calculations. Programs a great, but garbage in garbage out. About a month ago I was out in the field, and my friend Chris had a problem. Chris may be a mechanical engineer, but he is a real motor head. Chris is an expert on rebuilding 50 year old electrical equipment like 15kv breakers. This breaker would not open, and it was stuck so you could not unplug it. Chris injected lubricant into the socket, and had the men rotate the coupling by hand so the lubricant (special lubricant that Chris had to specify and buy) would penetrate. The were then able to unplug the breaker for the first time in 30 years. Chris then had to figure out what was wrong with this complex piece of equipment that can interrupt a 25,000 amp fault in 5 milliseconds. It turned out some grommets were worn. Chris replaced the grommets with ones he had specially machined. Chris then had to tune everything up so the breaker could interrupt a 25,000 amp fault in 5 milliseconds. The only other engineers who can do this are old enough to be Chris's dad, or granddad. These are some of the things real engineers do.
Q:anyone knows some practical situation when a resistance maybe used to model part of a circuit, a component or electrical equipment
