Q: About 7 years ago I had new tile put in all around my bathtub. I knew I would not like cleaning this tile grout. It is way too much work now that I am a senior lady. I would love to replace this tile with something that has no grout needed. Other than Formica (Laminate) can anyone think of another product I can have installed without grout lines? Thank you for your suggestions.
We clean tile and grout and seal everyday...What do we recommend? CULTURED MARBLE...Great! Seamless and last forever...Comes in 4x8 sheets just like plywood..And comes in many colors and patterns..Last forever...
Q: We‘re fixing our place and will need about 1200 sq ft of 24x24 tile. Any ideas as to how/where one can get this at wholesale/lower cost? Thanks!
You ll have trouble finding a lot in a 24x 24 tile wholesale/retail or other wise. These are a more pricey tile since the size alone makes them hard to handle, transport and produce. Your chance are better off in a 16x16 or 18x18 tiles because of getting that many you can pallet pricing and get a discount. Unless you have a builders license your not supposed to be able to buy them wholesale but you can get a deal in that quantity through your mom and pop flooring places. You may be able to find a deal at your discount places, but a lot of that tile is close out and discontinued tiles which I don t recommend when getting that amount.( may not be able to get more should you need it.) GL
Q: ok, i tiled my kitchen with the sticky tiles (not expensive ceramic ones or anything like that) then sealed it with a clear tube of sealant. it is about 3 or 4 days later, and the floor looks like crap. the sealer left behind a nasty tar trail or something. While the tile looks glossy and beautiful the places i sealed are dull and def noticable. How do I get rid of the excess???? I've tried scraping, it just don't work. help me!!!!
If you are referring to silicone sealant, you can buy silicone remover.
Q: I was quoted $5.75 for tile install and $2.25 for concrete board per square foot.
The best way to determine the reasonableness of a quote is to bid out the job. This means call at least three separate contractors and get quotes for the job. Make sure that they are bidding on comparable services, ask about their process, experience, lincense/insurance, and materials they will use. Not only will you gtet a good idea of the price, but you'll also be able to pick the most competent of the contractors. Your question does not have enough information to tell you whether or not your quote was within reason. There is a big difference between installing 12 x 12 tiles on a big flat floor and installing mosaic pieces on a vertical wall, for example. Glass and natural stone tiles are harder to work with. Smaller spaces are more time consuming per sq foot, etc. If materials are not included, your price seems a bit high for a basic install on a prepped, horizontal surface. But, like I said, depending on the details, the price could be very good.
Q: How many squares are tiles?
You use the brick side length * side length * block number = square number such as: 800 floor tiles is: 0.8 * 0.8 = 0.64 square, and then multiplied by 4 = 2.56 square meters 300 tiles is: 0.3 * 0.3 = 0.09 square, then Multiplied by 12 pieces = 1.08 square meters tiles have two boxes, three pieces of a box, four, eight, ten one box from 300 * 300 ------ 1000 * 1000 specifications of the larger The smaller the number of pieces
Q: 2nd bathroom, rarely used. Not sure if I want to spend the time to remove the tile (200 sq ft) or just put a think underlayment over it and then laminate.Anything that I should be concerned with doing it this way?
You don t say if its vinyl tile or ceramic tile. Vinyl tile the floor change is minimal and no problem. Doing it over a ceramic tile you may have a transition concern at the doorway. Other than raising the floor height, which I assume you realize, there is no concerns as long as the flooring down now is flat, solid and level, it ll be fine. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. I ve attended several installation seminars as well as installed a few 100,000 s/f. GL
Q: Does anyone know if I can lay ciramic tile over the dull worn out linoleum floor in my kitchen? I don‘t want to peel up the linolium because of the insane amount of labor it will take, and make the sub floor un even. any suggestions? Will tiles still stick to this material? Thanks!
It's not a good idea---ceramic tile is a big investment in effort, money and time. If you don't want to peel up the linoleum (which is not too hard to do, really)---get really nice new vinyl-linoleum and place over it (covering the seams with each tile middle, in a different pattern), or lay down a sheet of linoleum. Vinyl will stick well onto vinyl. Ceramic tile really needs a solid cement or wood surface to bond to.
Q: Looking for full size Hexagon quarry tile in 6 inch, 8 inch or 10 inch overage size. Not the little pieces that are grouped together.
Hexagonal Quarry Tile
Q: How do I clean the grout on my tiled floor. It has become quite discoloured over the last two years, especially in the kitchen. I live in a company apartment and it is very important that it is kept sparkling clean. There are very pale, large, limestone tiles throughout with matching grout. Thank you.
grout cleaner and toothbrush.
Q: and if so, can I just put the tile on top of the sanded laminate counter top?
You can, but it is not recommended. Your tile cuts would need to be almost perfect in order to not look bad. Then you need to silicone caulk around the sink to prevent water damage to the original counter top.
