Q:Tile back splash......?
okay first question, do you own this place, if the answer is no, then there is nothing you can do to change these tiles without the owners permission. if you do own this place, then odds are the only way to change the tile pattern is by changing the tiles
Q:Ugly decorative kitchen tiles?
Absolutely! okorder.com/ And here's a link for ceramic tile paint: If you find that painting is just too much work, you may want to consider going to Home Depot or Rona. They have these new funky stickers made to stick directly over ceramic tiles... and they last! Not as long as painting, but it will tide you over unitl you redo the backsplash in ceramic or whatever..... Have you considered the new metal tiles you can get now? If you want some info on metal tiles, just email me.
Q:City Hall tiles Math Problem?
Consider the tiles in the pattern above, but not including the 149 tile row. That row contains 147 tiles. The next higher row contains 145 tiles and the number decreases by 2 for each successive row. The number of tiles above the 149 tile row is the sum of the odd integers from 1 to 147. N = 1 + 3 + 5 + 7 + ... + 145 + 147 N = Σ(2n-1) for n = 1 to 74 = 2Σn - Σ1 = 2(n)(n+1)/2 - n = 2(74)(75/2) - 74 = 74*75 - 74 = 74² tiles The pattern is symmetric about the 149 tile row so there are the same number of tiles below that row as there are above it. Including the 149 tile row the total number of tiles is: T = 2N + 149 = 2(74²) + 149 = 11101
Q:Installing Floor Tile?
Without knowing exactly how you define upgrade; I suspect more vinyl wouldn't be. While some might enjoy hardwoods or laminates for a kitchen; I personally don't. After doing many various floors and installing multiple thousands of sq. ft. of tile and other substances; this is pretty much a choice you have to make. If you went with wood or laminate you might be OK leaving old flooring; though If I was contracted to do a job as such; I might turn it down. Most especially with vinyl tiles; I'd remove them or install concrete backer board/ a new sub floor over; removing any cove base molding to replace later. You'll get many various opinions here; and your options should be weighed using various factors. For one thing the kitchen; while it should be aesthetically pleasing; is pretty much a utilitarian room. Usual ceramic or Porcelain tile will last a lifetime with proper care; but will also be a cause for broken glasses or dishes if dropped. Certainly wood or laminates might as well. More Vinyl; be it sheet or tile would be an inexpensive way to go; and the patterns and colors are vast. Easy is a relative word; but I'd be happy to walk you through any substance and process. I like Pauls suggestion; and have samples of it; but I'm not sure of it's proven durability. Similarly I like Pergo; in a patchwork but again; it's a laminate. Actually the most durable wood flooring/ laminate I've found; is bamboo (no it doesn't look like stalks laid on the floor) You might also consider the rooms use in a general sense; how the balance of the room is decorated/accesorized; etc. Steven Wolf
Q:Laying tile?
It depends where you're starting from... you should put a mesh and scratch coat down first... this could add up to 1/4 depending on how thick you lay the mortar in to level out the imperfections in the floor... then the tile should sit on that with a notched trowel application of the set mortar... so another 1/16 or so... then the thickness of the tile on top of that.... the grout isn't higher so... Hope this helps with the calculation...
Q:how easily does tile chip?
Ceramic tile will chip easily when a direct hit is administered. Most flooring now a days is gonna be Porcelain. Porcelain is gonna be the best choice for flooring.
Q:I plan to tile my bathroom. Can i tile over the existing tiles?
Its much better too remove the old tile, tile requires a special backing board that the mortar adheres to, you would have to put it over the exisitng tile and it would bring your surfaces out another 1/2-1 or so. I would go to Home Depot or book store and buy a book on DIY tile. You will need to rent a wet saw to cut the tiles. You use mortar to adhere the tile, little plastic spacers in between the tile, then you finish off with grout. If you have never laid tile, I would try find a friend/family member who has, or get an estimate from a professional. It is a very labor intensive job, and you need to be meticulous. If anything is off you can get water problems cause cracking, mold, mildew, etc.
Q:How best to start a tiling job?
not a pro but i thought you were suppose to start in the middle of the room. chalk line the center of the room and lay tile from there but i quess it would all depend on measuring to see how much of a tile size you would be working once you got to the wall. probably make an adjustment from center line so that tile size on both walls would be same size. i would do a practice layout of a few tiles to see how things look before formal tiling./// i'll check back to see what the pros have to say.
Q:Jane marble tiles how to join
1, Jane tiles are high-grade tiles, each place is only allowed to have a total dealer, that is, if someone agent, then you can not be a proxy. 2, Jane does not need the initial fee, but you need to be able to invest at least a 300 square store, pre-investment, it is still more than 600,000 it 3, wish business is booming, made a fortune!
Q:Sub-floor in addition before vinyl tile?
Self stick tiles commonly loosen from subfloors, concrete or wood. They can be installed successfully over concrete but it is absolutely vital that your concrete be smooth and very, very clean. If you are concerned about adhesion it would be wiser to use glue down vinyl tiles which aren't much more expensive, rather than build a very expensive wooden subfloor which wouldn't guarantee the integrity of peel and stick tiles.
