Press fitting system joins pipe without welding or bolting. The components fit by crimping through the use of a special pressing tool. An O-ring that is inserted in the fitting ends of the pipe ensures a leak-proof connection. Press fitting system is the trend of pipeline industry. It is widely used in cold and hot water supply, heating supply, fire protection, medicinal gas, industrial petroleum pipeline system etc.

- Depending on the layout, you may have to cut into the floor. I would suggest using flew hose and c clamps if its accessible.

- I don't know that this is a vent pipe. We get this problem when we run hot water. The hot water makes the copper pipes expand. When our addition was built, the plumber should have used fittings that did not cause this problem. Unless you want to open up the walls, you're stuck with it. In our case, it makes as much noise in the summer as it does now.

- Just change the end fittings where they attach with a 3/4 to 1 adapter. Ideally, you should use a sweat fitting, but since you aren't *soldering friendly* you could use one of the newer styles such as what in in the link. That one is a *Sharkbite* fitting that you can get at the Home depot, but Lowe's carries their own version called *Gatorbite* and there are other non soldering ways to do it as well, such as compression fittings as shown in the second link.
