Q:We must have had 10 vacuums in the past 5 years. We have been buying bagless upright vacuum cleaners in the $80-$150 range. We run a playgroup from our house so we vacuum alot!! At least 3 times a day. These cheap cleaners just don't last. The loose suction very quickly and eventually just break. So we have decided to invest in a better quality one. Any suggestions of a good quality vacuum cleaner that will last and do a really good job time after time. We don't really care about bag/bagless or upright/canister. We just want something that works well and will last. We are looking in the $400 max price range. So far we have been looking at Dyson, Oreck and Electrolux. Please help!!!!

Q:If sound doesnt travel through a vacuum, why are vacuum cleaners so loud?
vacuum cleaner does not produce vacuum, actually it produce a suction effect for which heavy capacity motors are required and they produce loud sound.
Q:I have the Miele now, and see that Kenmore was top rated by Consumer Reports.
Have used Kenmore for years, also based on C/R ratings. Mine is a cannister; works well on dog fur. As I recall, Miele's biggest problem was initial cost, so if it's working ok, stick with it, but if you NEED to replace it, go with Kenmore. (My sister-in-law, whose kids have asthma, also swears by Kenmore.)
Q:My husband has really long, really strong hair. We've killed quite a few vacuum cleaners with his hair (the hair wraps around the spinny thing and inevitably breaks the motor). Because of this, I'm assuming I can't get that kind of vacuum cleaner: stand up vacuum with the spinning brush. What type and/or brand of vacuum should I get?
You can have the kind of vacuum cleaner with a spinning brush, which is the kind that works best for cleaning carpets. You just have to look after it and since you know that long hair is a problem then clean it out of the vacuum cleaner once in a while. A canister vacuum that gives you a choice between using the spinning brush or using a floor brush only might be a good choice. However, if you vacuum a carpet with just a floor brush it doesn't work that well and it doesn't matter how powerful the vacuum is. The beating action of that spinning brush is what knocks dirt out of the carpet so it can be vacuumed up. A floor brush probably won't even pick up all the hair and it definitely won't get all the dust out of the carpet. This isn't about how the machine performs. This is about you not giving the machine the maintenance it needs for the conditions it's being used in.
Q:i have a canister vacuum cleaner that has been working on and off. When it works, it works well, but sometimes when you try to turn it on it won't. But then when you try again later, it works. And it hasn't worked when it wasn't even used shortly before so it can't be overheated. The vacuum is at least a decade old. I'm suspecting that the motor i nearing the end of its life..but my dad refuses acknowledge the possibility of that and citing that it just needs to be cleaned. I know when the vacuum needs to be cleaned considering that I'm like the only one who uses it!
Alyssa, 10 years is a decent amount of time with a vacuum. However, I would recommend taking it into Sears (or just call them to save you a trip) and find out what they can do for you. Kenmore is sold exclusively by Sears, and sometimes they are great about fixing/replacing things like this. That's what I would do first. If they can't do anything for you (or if it costs you more than $40 to replace the motor) then it's probably time for a new vacuum. Just be careful - the vacuum industry seems to build vacuums that last about 4-5 years now, unless you want to pay for something like a Miele and possibly a Dyson (I'm still not sure a Dyson will last longer than 5-7 years personally). There are some good deals though for less than $150 if you don't want to spend the money - the Shark Navigator and the Eureka Airspeed Bagless are two great machines you may want to look at. I'll put a resource below that gives some great reviews you can read if you do end up looking for a new vacuum. Hope this helps!
Q:Looking for an overall price range how much are Miele Vacuum Cleaners, are they worth the hefty price tag?
They vary in price between 150 and 500 pound , it depends on the model that you require
Q:vacuum cleanerspetrolbakeriesmmmmm
Walking by a laundromat, ahhhhhhhhhhhh, the dryers section especially.
Q:what type of motors do we have in juicers, blenders, grinders vacuum cleaners ?I think they are all contains dc motors but what kind of dc motors they have ?
I know my Philips vacuum cleaner has a 'universal motor'. A universal motor can be operated by both ac or dc but the voltage is different. You can connect a dc to the plug pins to make it spin. But not if it is equipped with variable speed. In many cases, 12V dc is just enough to make it spin but higher voltage makes it spin faster (I have ever made it run in this way). A universal motor is very commonly used on power hand drills or other power tools. Its advantages are light-weight and high torque at low speed. This motor also has its negative sides: it is noisy and has (carbon) brushes. maintenance is therefore needed and its has spark when running. This motor is also called series motor because all of the windings are connected in series. In the contrary, squirrel cage induction motor is more common for other applications, such as fans, water pumps. Its advantages are quiet and maintenance is minimal.
Q:You don't ever have to plug the vacuum in. Unless it's for their hair.
Yeah,...dogs suck!
Q:A vacuum cleaner is supposed to do just that: clean! And that’s what my old vacuum wasn’t doing. And it was so heavy! . Is it really lighter than the one which are there in the market. Doesn’t it have a bag to dispose like in other conventional models?
The review link you posted stated that Dyson Vacuum Cleaners are among the heavier and pricier vacuum cleaners on the market. I am a big believer in most of the research Consumer Reports does and it lists Dyson, but not as a reliable option. Most of them do have a bag to dispose of like most upright models but some do not. I have purchased the Eureka Boss Smart Vac Ultra 4870, and it is awesome. It was only around $125 but it is great and easy to use. It is also a Consumer Report Best Buy and that is against vacuums in the 3, 4, 5 hundred and even $1350 price range! It is heavier than I expected (about 20 pounds) but it really kicks some butt when in use. Again, it is so simple to switch from carpet to hardwood to the hose and has a clip to lock the power cord in place so it's not always in the way.
