I think a key difference between necklaces and a metal rod is that the metal rod is on the inside of your body. In most cases electrical current flow is on the outside of a conductor. Q:The other day I was pulled over for speeding. The ticket said I was going 50 mph in a 25 mph zone. An apple is a good one.. another would be to dig around in the steel fittings at the local hardware store and find some that can thread together. Clean plain steel is pretty safe, as should be stainless steel. Stay away from aluminum or nickel plate if you're worried about toxins. I can't speak on the toxicity of copper but I know that it has a low melting point in comparison to steel or stainless steel.
