- Q:The bathroom sink has a single spout, so we would only connect the cold water hose. The unit we are moving to does not have laundry taps, hence this question. - If the sink or tub faucet has the threaded spout you sure can! years ago when I lived in an apartment I did!Just attach a Y fitting to the spout and connect both washer hoses to that. And you can drain it into the bathtub too. Just remember the drain hose must be in an upright position. attach it with some plumbing strap to the back of the machine, then I took a garden hose and connected it to the drain hose ( i bought one of those brass fittings used to replace the end of the garden hose and a clamp, i don't know what the name of the clamp is but it's like a smaller version of the clamp that holds the vent pipe onto the back of the dryer, then I slid the non threaded end of the brass fitting into the washer drain hose and tightened the clamp around the washer drain hose and the brass fitting and screwed the garden hose onto that and let the machine drain into the bath tub. just make sure you have a lint trap over your bat tub drain hole. Now I live in my own house and have regular w/d hookups buti stiil use the garden hose to drain the machine. I run my garden hose outside to water the trees! Here in Texas you just don't waste water!

- You're in good shape- the overflow was internal. The same drain is all you need.

- Is this a pedestal sink, a drop in sink, or a molded sink? Make sure you have the shut off valves in the off position (top of valve to the right or clockwise to shut off). If your home is an older home and does not have shut off valves (requiring you to shut off water to the entire house or section of home) then by all means install shut off valves before you attempt to install a new sink. You may not need a new faucet, but for the cost of a new one vs replacing your old one I would recommend a new faucet and drain setup. I prefer the white Silicone (plumbers) tape to the goop. For the drain get plumbers putty even if the directions say you can use the gasket paper or cardboard gasket that comes with the new drain. Dry fit everything before you permanently install it especially the PVC or metal drain parts. It is much easier to install the faucet before you drop in the sink or place the modeled counter top sink in place. There are special considerations for a pedestal sink.
