- That's just a standard AC power cord. You may already have one around the house. If you can't find one, go to your local computer store.

- Q:I'm building a new computer and i have a SATA 6.0 HDD picked out but the PSU says it has SATA power cables, i was just wondering if the power connectors were the same across the board from SATA 3.0 to the new SATA 6.0.
- same interface cable, and same power source cable. YOu just have to make sure the motherboard has a 6.0 gbs slot. I just built a PC with one of these. Not a HUGE improvement, but startup is a few seconds faster.

- Dell is better than they used to be. Their XPS laptops are not half bad, and their standard cheap ones are good for basic use (school, surfing the web, etc). I find them fun to modify, but that is probably a bit above the level of most general users. HP is pretty solid, Asus is a good contender (I have had a few Asus laptops with no issues), and Toshibas are good for general use as well. I do recommend to you (and anyone who uses a computer) to actually learn basic maintenance and repair for your computer. Saves you money in the long run, and with a decent level of knowledge, you will rarely even need any sort of tech support. Computer basics are not difficult, you just have to take the time to learn it.
- Q:My laptop cable sometimes won't stay in all the time. When it is connected, it has a blue circle around it, but sometimes that blue circle goes off (while it is plugged into the side of laptop) and the tool bar changes from showing a plug to showing a battery. Would there be something wrong with the cable line and it needs to be replaced?

- Q:My power cord for my computer and all usb cables i have seen have these cylindrical things on them. What do they do?
- Those are called ferrites. You can learn more about them from a company called Fair-rite (I put their link down below). A ferrite is really nothing more than a magnet, but one specially tuned depending on the frequency of signal running down the cable, or the current if the cable is a power cable. Electro magnetic interference (EMI) is all around us, especially with all the electronic devices we have running in the modern home. EMI flies through the air and, when it contacts something metalic, it runs along that metalic line. In the case of a cable, imagine the clean signal picking up fuzz as it runs down the line. That's pretty much what happens. A ferrite stops the fuzz from getting through to the end of the cable, thus making the signal much cleaner when the end device gets to it. On a power cord, the ferrite helps prevent too much EMI from leaking out at the end and interfering with the device that the power is for. I should mention that a ferrite is always optional on a line, in other words the cable will work without one. However, ferrites aren't expensive and they do help with the signal, so most companies will just add one on to the product just in case.
- Q:My ac jack is screwed up and I can't plug in the ac adapter. I have heard that there is a power cable that will plug into one of the other ports on the side of the computer to, but I don't know where to find one or what they are called. Also, I have heard there are a million problems with the R3000 - and some can be fixed by taking it apart. I do NOT want to do this. I just need an alternative power cable. - Q:So I'm currently living in a dorm room, and my tv is hooked up to the campus cable system.
