- Get power cable so you can power up old computer. Borrow a monitor so you can see what you are after. Load onto flash drive if old computer has USB ports or onto a CD. Load onto laptop.

- Q: i am in the process of building my computer and i have just received my Samsung SH-B123L 12x BD-ROM. But it did not come with a sata power lead. dose any one know were i can get it from or dose it come with the PSU which i have not got yet.
- Power cables for optical and hard drives are provided by the PSU. Just ensure that when you pick your PSU that it has the correct SATA drive power ends that will meet your needs.

- One cable is the power cable and one is the data cable, just like IDE drives have two cables for the same purpose. You will need to have a 4-pin molex to SATA power cable connector and also a hard drive controller card with a SATA port on it for you to be able to connect the drive. If you don't have both of these, you won'e be able to hook up the drive at all.

- Troll patrol a brilliant answer as far as humour goes. Your computer would normally have spare power leads in it in case you want to add other drives. if not then try taking one from your CD rom and plugging it to your hard drive. Only problem here is your system may boot from the cd rom.

- The picture in the manual shows a standard IEC type power cord, which you can get at any electronics or computer store.

- Just pull on the cables. There are no clips. Just got to pull. Those things get really stuck with time. It's a really stupid connection system.
