Q: do i remove toilet, vinyl tile and sink cabinet. under lay for tile? what holds ceramic tile down?: you really should pull the vinyl up, even if it's a hassle, because it could buckle in the future and affect your tile work. Go to your home store and see if they have a solvent that will loosen the adhesive holding the vinyl down, then scrape it all up. Hopefully it will be concrete underneath and not another layer of vinyl (happened to us in a kitchen once). Clean it really well, then do your tiling. Be sure to use the correct adhesives and grouts. There is also a sealer you can use that will insure the grout never stains, something *she* will appreciate when she never has to get on the floor with a toothbrush to clean out the muck between the tiles. :) Good luck and happy holidays!

Q: We recently bought a house and the bathroom has tile everywhere (including the ceiling). What is the best, easiest, fastest way to get tile up. The experiences we‘ve had with tile is that it just breaks up in little pieces. Any suggestions?: If it where on drywall, I would take off the drywall - gut down to the studs. If its on plaster, get a wide chisel and hammer away...Sometimes a 6 drywall knife works to srape off tile then you have some drywall repair- skim coating. Hopefully, for your sake, the tile is on drywall - a newer home...

Q: tile. any advice?: it kind of depends on the room its going in and what kind of contrast your personal style is suited to. that said, id go with a light grey or a light tan. if its in the a kitchen, go with a darker color that won't show stains as readily as a lighter grout color.

Q: I clean a church and all the cleaners I have tried on the tile floor, leaving it streaky.. Does anyone know of anything that would work? Thanks!: I agree, the half white vinegar and water cant be beat (except for the smell but that will be gone after a little bit). I talked to a person yesterday that used a swiffer on Travertine Tile and now it is dull and streaked and they havent been able to clean it off. I hear this a lot when it comes to the swiffer, but I personally havent used it. I have used an alcohol based cleaner before and it evaporates quickly leaving a streakless floor. But still, for the money vinegar and water cant be beat.
