- Q: Moved into a house where prior owner used glazed porcelain tile. Job unfinished but a little tile left behind. Not enough! Can anyone help me find GEO CERAMICHE Natura Sable BL 12x12 (or larger, I can cut it down). Have looked online to no avail (yet). Neighbors tell me the tile was bought at least 4 years ago but not later. Can anyone help me find 5 pieces of this tile?
- Find where the tile was bought 1st.. Many big box stores will private label name brand tiles ( and many products) so you can t cross shop them..After 4 years I won t give you much of a chance to find them ..sorry... Styles change along w/ technology and they switch things to change w/ the times. It may be still available but chances are slim..Is it in a place that some sort of mosaic can be used as a decoration? Or maybe a good rug? Start w/ the big box stores but don t waste to much gas chances are slim .. I wish you luck ..
- Q: My parents want to re-tile their bathroom. My dad says he can use regular tiles in the bathroom, bathroom being the floor and the open-shower walls(the only thing stopping the water spillage is plastic and fabric on a rail), but my mom says it needs bathroom tiles and bathroom grout for the job. Any help would definitely be appreciated!!!
- There's no such thing as bathroom tiles or bathroom grout. You can use any kind of ceramic, glass, or porcelain tile in a bathroom. If you use something porous, like a natural stone, there are extra steps involved to make it waterproof. Also, if you are tiling the floor, don't use glass tiles (they will become scratched) or tiles that will become slippery when wet. The most important thing when tiling a bathroom is to prepare it well and don't skip any steps. All surfaces that are to be tiled must be covered with cement backer board. Tape and glue the seams and allow it to dry. Then, you can lay your tile and grout it. Make sure that you seal the grout! This is the step that many people forget and if you do forget it, your grout will be flaking off in a matter of months. Depending on which sealer you use, you may have to wait 1-3 days to use the bathroom after it is sealed. This allows the sealer to develop a water-tight surface. Also, don't grout corners. Corners should be caulked with bathroom caulk. The caulk allows the tiles to expand and contract with changes in temperature. If you just grout the whole thing, there's no room for the tiles to expand and contract and your grout can fracture. Good luck!
- Q: I took off all the old flooring in the bathroom and whats left is wood (plywood), can I tile directly onto the plywood or do I need to set something down first?
- I agree with answer 1 in that a concrete backer board would be OK. Brand/Trade name is your choice. To more directly answer your Q however...YES After installing multiple thousands of sq. ft. of tile, some in my own home, Plywood; if stable; will hold mortar. The issue is in the fact that backer board is more textured, with minor holes/pits/ voids; allowing the mortar more GRIP area. The cutting and installation of backer board are not extremely labor intensive, and even 1/4 inch; well secured will benefit you. In my jobs experience I most often remove any cove base to replace after the fact. The backer board/mortar and tile, will lessen the floor to ceiling height by approx. 3/4 inch. Steven Wolf Above I mentioned Stable certainly the sub/substrate (PLY) should be stable before installing backer board.
- Q: I am tiling my kitchen and My house was a prefab. and OLD. The plywood used was 1/2 (I measured it). what thickness of backboard/cement board should I use for under the tile and on top of the plywood? I was thinking 1/2 backerboard/cement board so there is 1 of subfloor under the tile. Do you think this is enough? Also, I am tiling around my cabinets, what do I do about the dishwasher? Do I tile around it? If I tile under it, it won‘t fit in the spot then. I was going to tile around it... I do have room to tile under the fridge though. There is space above.
- I would use a minimum of 1/2 inch cement board. How large are your joists are you sure you will not have any weight issues (you should be OK). Next try to jump up and down once in the middle of your floor, this will give you an idea of the flex you have in your floor. Too much and your tile will end up cracking. If you have too much flex, consider installing a floating floor instead, they make some that look just like ceramic tile but are synthetic. They are lightweight and will last almost as long as the tile would have. As far as your dishwasher is concerned, see how much adjustment is on your legs (the legs screw up and down- they are used to level the dishwasher). It is not always necessary to tile under the dishwasher, but you want to make sure you can still get it out in the future, they don't last as long as your tile will. You can just tile under the front panel, it is adjustable.
- Q: It‘s something I really want to do, I find myself longing for it often. Tile or ceramic, not sure yet. But, my house is 1485 square feet and I‘m wondering if anyone has a ball park estimate for what price range I‘m looking at! I know different variables like tile vs ceramic, etc, but just looking for a range if anyone can help. Thanks!
- Very expensive when you consider $4-$5 or more per sq foot for installation costs, plus the cost of the tile itself. Tile , whether ceramic, slate, marble, etc., will require a cement backer board [$1+ per sq ft], mastic mortar[ $.50+ per sq ft], grout, sealer, etc.. For 1500 sq ft this will add up fast, even if you do the labor yourself. Consider resale as well. Some option to consider might also include under-tile floor heat at least in the bathrooms, usually well worth the expense. I personally share your likes as far as tile vs carpeting, but future home-buyers might like a more rounded choice, such as hardwood flooring. If you have ever stood on a concrete floor for long periods [painful on the back and joints], this is what a whole house of tile will feel like. Hardwood flooring has a little cushion to it.
- Q: i want to use broken tiles for flooring in the balcony. what is the procedure?? and how do i start??please suggest.
- I suggest that you first prep and fill your concrete and let dry. Next you should lay out some tile pieces on an area near your starting point fitting the pieces together like a jigsaw puzzle. Next spread some tile mastic over an area equal to the size of the area where you have laid out tile pieces that fit together. Next, quickly set the tiles in the mastic in the same pattern that you had them laid off to the side leaving at least about 1/8th gaps between the tile pieces. When you are finished, scrape off any mastic that does not have tile set in it. Repeat this process until you completely cover your floor. Allow to dry for a day and then fill the cracks with grout. Allow the grout to dry for a day and then do an acid wash to remove the grout residue.
- Q: just had a tile floor laid and i noticed some were higher than the one next to it in about 6 tiles. my husband says every house will have those. does yours?
- No, my tile guys spent half the day leveling the concrete before laying the tiles. They sanded down the high spots and used filler in the low spots. My floor was perfectly level before they ever layed the first tile. They would slide a 8' straight edge over the floor many times look for discrepancies.
- Q: what tiles would be better to install kitchen? sometimes I get some information on the internet. My friends saw some beautiful pitcures about floors online.
- CHECK A TILE STORE, LOEWES, OR HOME DEPOT. PORCELAIN TILES NEED A PERFECTLY LEVEL FLOOR OR THE TILES WILL CRACK.
- Q: Small size tiles for external walls
- Small tiles generally include 100mm * 100mm and 150mm * 150mm two or so, more than 200mm should not call a small tile, unless the individual himself.
- Q: Chengdu tiles wholesale market
- Hello, do not know if you have a shop now? You can come to Zibo Fortune City side of the investigation, where the flowers and prices are more advantages.
