Q:I am tiling my bathroom and in the process of re-tiling the shower stall. I removed the old plastic liner there and now some of the glue remains on the greenboard. Also, some of the green part of the board is ripped of from when the glue came off with the old liner. Some of the paper is flakey in spots. I pulled off some of the loose pieces, but there is more. Now, I‘m an amateur. I was told to use some grout sealer to go over the greenboard. However, since there are flakey pieces of paper from the greenboard on there still, should I simply remove as much as I can before sealing and tiling? Will the seal glue these flakey pieces down and make them secure for tiling? What is your advice? Many thanks!
I think number 3 is your best option although cement board is not a moister barrier. You need to put a water proof membrane behind it. You can use 1/4 inch cement board and replace the green board with thinner green board.or you can use a paper barrier with 1/2 inch cement board
Q:About 7 years ago I had new tile put in all around my bathtub. I knew I would not like cleaning this tile grout. It is way too much work now that I am a senior lady. I would love to replace this tile with something that has no grout needed. Other than Formica (Laminate) can anyone think of another product I can have installed without grout lines? Thank you for your suggestions.
On the walls? A tub surround or tub kit as they are called too.
Q:We just installed laminate wood floors tiles in our open space living/kitchen room. We put ceramic tiles in the kitchen area the wood laminate in the living area. Due to time constraints we had to get the laminate installed first before the tiles. Our tiler was supposed to put something between the wood the tiles but didn‘t. He‘s not being very cooperative about completing this, so we are trying to do something ourselves. What can we put there, so that the grout stops coming apart where the tiles laminate wood meet? Thanks.
we had a similar situation where 2 different laminates meet between a bathroom and kitchen... we covered it with a screwed in brass plate... holds the flooring down and looks nice too
Q:Ok the room is 12X16 thats 192 square foot right? well each box of tile is 30 square foot how many boxes would i need
192/30 = 6.4 boxes, but it's rarely that simple. Depending on layout and size of tile (diagonal, border, number of obstacles etc.) you need to figure waste %. Say 10-20%. Waste % really depends a lot on how intricate a pattern and how big of tile it is, it will change the equation a lot (smaller tile less so than larger). 192x1.10= 211 = 7 192x1.20=230 or 230/30 = 7.6 Say 8 to be safe or 9 and return one.
Q:I am in the process of tiling my bathroom, now that I have the 12 X 12 tiles on the floor and nearly done with them, I need to do the walls behind the toilet sink and cabinet. My question is, how far do I have to move the toilet flange (pipe) forward so the new tiles will not interfere. The toilet sits right on the wall. I used 1/2 backerboard, and I am using a 4x4 tile and thinset to mix and hold it together.
if you put the backerboard over you existing wall (1/2') and you're going to tile that, (1/4'), and you should have 1/2' space between wall and tank top...then you need an additional 1 1/4''. Obviously you will have to add length to your pipe also.
Q:i had a pipe leak into my bedroom and now everything is torn apart so i am remodeling my room and i cant decide between wood or tile flooring. my dad said wood because it looks good and because our living room and theater room is tile and if my bedroom is tile it wouldnt make any sense. my mom says i should get tile because if my grandma spills her drink or eat in my room it wont ruin the tile and its easy to clean up but if wood it could be ruined with scratch marks or circle stain on the wood from the cup or drink she spills. so now i dont know which one to choose. also i would like to paint my room blue and wonder if you guys have any suggestions on the shade colors of blue any website or image of the shade color would be nice if i could view them. thank you in advance!
Hi okorder / Hope this helps. Jason Buzi
Q:The house has been living for two years, these days do not know the weather is wet or how the matter, the bathroom tile actually fell a few pieces, but fortunately did not break. Now want to paste it back, I would like to ask, how to paste? With cement? Or what other glue? Building materials store to sell plastic construction, smear to the back of the brick, paste it can be, I used n times.
Q:Tiles 1 open 2 What does it mean ah?
Generally refers to cutting tiles such as the 800 * 800 cut into two 400 * 400.
Q:Standard Specification for Common Tile and Flat Table
80x80 floor tile is 0.64 square 60X60 floor tile is 0.36 square 0.3X0.3 floor tile is 0.09 square 0.3X0.45 wall tile is 0.135 square square square ÷ brick square number = brick number such as 80 square floor laying 80X80 floor tiles 80 ÷ 0.64 = 125 tablets ? The answer was adopted by the questioner
