- Q: I know he does art with rubiks cubes but I just want to know the type of tiles he uses for his street art and where i might be able to buy some.
- Space Invader Tiles
- Q: I want to use the tiles for a back splash in the kitchen. Is there a reason I have to use the spacers? Why can‘t I put them where they are touching each other? I‘m not using them on a floor. I don‘t like the look of the space between the tiles.
- Sorry to disagree with almost everyone, but, the two main purposes of grout are waterproofing and keeping a straightt and level run on the tile. Tile adhesive (for walls) is more the enough to hold a tile in place for a very long time (I tiled behind my fridge more than a decade ago and never got around to grouting). With that being said, you can use any width grout line you like. The thinner the line, the harder it is to keep your run straight and your tiles level to each other. Without a grout line, water can seep behind the tile and damage your wall (or sub floor). Even the most perfectly laid tiles done by a master tile layer will have a grout line. The best laid marble has a grout line of 1/16 th of an inch. That is VERY difficult to do right. Good Luck
- Q: I am going to lay bathroom floor tiles in my bathroom but I have some questions before I start. 1. Can I lay the new tiles over the existing floor, which is vinyl flooring? Or do I have to remove that first? 2. If I have to remove the vinyl flooring do I have to add cement backer board? Or can I lay the tile right over whatever is under the vinyl flooring? 3. I have trim along that floor that I will be re-attaching, do I lay the tile right up to the wall or do I put a space in between the wall and the edge tile? Do I then grout into that space between the wall and the edge tile?
- pull up the vinyl and mortar AND screw down Hardybacker board . dont buy that crap gypsum board from lowes or that foam stuff. dont EVER lay tile down over wood... EVER lay your tile 1/4 inch away from the walls. and then your base board and base shoe will lay over the tile and it'll look great. grab some 1/8 spacers.... lay with a 1/8th inch gap and it will look much nicer.
- Q: We bought the tile. Our wall has new drywall behind (unpainted and clean). We are putting the tile from above the backsplash to under the wall cabinets. Can you please answer my questions:1) Do you prep the walls with anything? We bought this tub of stuff called Thinset... Is this the actual adhesive or is there something else used to put on afterward?2) We are doing our longest wall with counter and sink/window then corner and over to counter and stove then counter. Where would the starting point be? Corner or one wall?3) The wall cabinet on the open end is about 1/2 inch in then the base cabinet right below. If we start the tile from the bottom, when you get to the top, the tile will hang out from the wall cabinet by the 1/2 in. Do we use a straight line from the wall cabinet or base cabinet and it be off either way? 4) The tile is not coated or shiny. Once they are applied to the wall and then grouted and wiped clean, do you apply any coating?
- This is a long question. First it is not good to lay tile on drywall your best bet is to get the rock board for tile it is not that expensive. Take out the drywall where the tile is to go and replace it with hardibacker board. Just pick a side but it is best to start at the bottom when you lay the tile. Make your corner is square or your tile is going to be off. I am not sure about question 3 but you will have to cut the tile to fit. Use a level and try to cut to fit as you go. There is a little room to that you can play with but try to keep things close. Unless your tile is rough or there are a lot of holes in it, there is no need to seal the tile. The grout needs to be sealed. In the kitchen bacteria will grow in the cracks so put a coat of sealer on. Take your time and it will work out
- Q: What is the loss of tiles? What is the difference between floor tiles and bathroom tiles? Living room masonry 80X80 balcony, bathroom floor, kitchen floor is 30X30 bathroom wall, kitchen wall is 30X45. We help me see how much loss in this
- Hello, in fact, the loss will not be great, because the general brick you cut somewhere else can be used, unless your office is not just the length and width, that is, in addition to your specifications, the rest of the small points than you Half of the specifications of the brick is big, and the loss of that situation is large. Hall with the general loss of two more with 80. By 1.56 +2 on it. Small pieces of damage loss is relatively small, according to the normal calculation but also throw away the place not posted. The normal normal area of 30 * 30 direct by 11 will not lose much. Tile specifications 30 * 45 of the. This is more difficult to calculate. Because doors and windows to throw away. There are many irregular places. Are generally deducted those who add up to 10 is enough, after the stalls can be posted as the point of the brick point. Hope it helps you. (Buy brick and more visit a few)
- Q: 16 by 16 tiles
- Tile labor varies a bit from area to area, but you can figure in the $7 a s/f range for basic labor , thin set, grout and 1/2 cement board , which is generally need when installing over the common wood sub floors. Tile isn t figured in this price since a plain , average or discontinued tile can go from $1 a s/f to a very nice tile in that size at 4$ a s/f Extras such as rip out/ disposal and any floor prep isn t included either. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar.. GL
- Q: i want to paint my bathroom and the walls and floor are ceramic tile what do i do?
- I would not try painting the floor, virtually nothing available will stay in place. You can use the 2 part epoxy paint for the walls, that is designed for re-coating a tub. It is about $50 for the kit, and one kit may not do the entire bathroom. Kilz, a brand name, does make a primer for going over tile. You should rough up the surface a bit with the sand paper, so the primer will stick, then put on a good finish coat. I did this in my bathroom with pink tile. It lasted about 2 years, I then had to touch up some nicks, but it was easier and much cheaper than all new tile.
- Q: are there any products made for removing grout off of tile because we forgot to clean the grout off of our tile and it dried over night and now its hard and is stuck pretty well. does anyone know of any acids or anything made for this?
- go into Wickes and you will desire to purchase a bottle of Tile Grout air purifier. approximately ?7.ninety 9. Use rubber gloves and use it neat. confirm you employ a fabric because of fact the dye will come out of the sponge. do no longer purchase the comparable product from BQ cos it would not works. I had to apply it as quickly as and Wickes' did the interest. Pour it on and watch the grout bubble and use a fabric and water. no longer sturdy smelling or very acidic. merely positioned on some marigolds. you will discover that using some thing metallic will go away gray marks on the tiles, SO do no longer USE A BLADE.
- Q: How to use ordinary drill drill on the tiles to hang things hanging?
- Ordinary drill can, but must use a metal head of the hole drill (hardware store to sell). First with the tools to drill the center of the porcelain glaze broken, cracked on the line to facilitate the drill bit positioning, and will not slip on the tile, 6mm above the hole do not hit a bit, According to the required aperture and then drill again, the hole will not be broken.
- Q: I would appreciate a double check on this problem. I believe I‘ve saved myself a lot of cutting, but I just want to make sure. My shower is 59 inches wide. My tile is 4.25 inches wide and tall. (square)My spacers are .25 inches wide. The middle point of my shower 29.5 inches. If I move my center line to the right or left by 2 and 1/8 inches I should be able to cover the entire width with 13 tile IF I allow for a 1/8th inch addition in each corner. Is this correct?
- too much thinking . . but thanks for the 2 points . . .really . . you are being too analytical here . . let your tile installation crew do it for you . . tell them what you want . . . but if you are so fussy that all must be dead on perfect . . good luck . . because you may still need to float the walls . . and walls are usually not square and ceilings are oft crooked as well . . sometimes you just need to fudge a bit and follow the line that everyone will see.
