Q:How do you tile anyway? thank you
I will go with Rob on this one. Yes, it's possible using epoxy-based adhesives. However, unless you have a lot of experience doing this, it won't look right, especially if you are doing walls and have exposed edges. How are you planning on finishing the edges? Have you accounted for the decreased room dimensions? There are way too many variables. Rip it out and start over. There is a good chance that you may have to go down to stud as drywall tends to pretty much get trashed when you take tile off of it. When I remodel a bath and am re-laying all the tile, I ALWAYS take it to stud and start over. It saves time in the long run and in my business, time is money.
Q:What is the basic role of tile glue?
The basic role is clearly posted more solid brick can not afford to brick Baidu experience - tile adhesive construction method
Q:want to tile counter top with out using hardboard
I have done it and it was over 7 years ago and no problems at all. I even stand on the counter sometimes. First you will need to sand the formica with a coarse sandpaper followed by 2 coats of oil-based Kilz-It. When that it dry you are ready to thinset and lay your tiles.
Q:It‘s something I really want to do, I find myself longing for it often. Tile or ceramic, not sure yet. But, my house is 1485 square feet and I‘m wondering if anyone has a ball park estimate for what price range I‘m looking at! I know different variables like tile vs ceramic, etc, but just looking for a range if anyone can help. Thanks!
You can count on paying $7 to $12 a square foot depending on material. Thats just basic flooring, if you want anything high end, then expect to pay more accordingly
Q:Does the tiles have radiation?
Tiles have radiation. Tile radiation does exist, the raw materials of ceramic tile products from stone powder, quartz powder, long sand powder, zircon powder and other minerals, these raw materials in the process of decay a special radiation, resulting in radiation. The tiles of human radiation, in addition to the ceramic tile itself, as well as tiles in the processing of additives generated by radiation, such as ultra-white brick polished tiles to add zirconia or dark glaze contains uranium, potassium and so on. So, the radiation in the tiles is unavoidable. In fact, the tiles are drawn from natural stone, and natural stone will produce radiation. As the tiles are only artificial synthesis of natural materials, radiation is much smaller than the natural materials, the radioactivity remained at a low level. For ceramic products such as tiles and other raw materials, radioactive material will continue to decay, these raw materials through the natural purification and artificial processing, the radioactivity can be ignored. As long as consumers buy quality qualified Class A tiles, even if the use of large area, do not have to worry about its radiation problems.
Q:How to Clean Granite Tiles ? What are the best methods which can be used for Granite Tile
Granite okorder / Safety Tips: Always use safety gear to protect your eyes, nose, legs, gloves. If you are using wet polisher, always read the precaution and safety tips of wet polisher. As it uses water and electricity, be careful.
Q:Real estate tiles where the tiles as Guangzhou? What are the consequences if the wall is not good?
It is recommended to go to the building materials market to see, choose the brand of tiles also try to choose a large brand, quality guaranteed. But also their own hands to test the quality. Do it yourself
Q:The tile is one week old. I have had the company pull tiles, regrout and patch. I have new cracks every day. Can I reasonable ask them to start over?
I don't know if you watch HGTV, but there is a Holmes on Homes episode that covers this very situation. In that episode they ended up ripping up the entire floor sub-floor, started again. The tile guys laid down a concrete board that is designed for that purpose, but they laid it over the old linoleum floor when that floor needed to be ripped up 1st a new sub-floor laid down. The cracking is probably caused by the tiles shifting in some way. Either the subfloor is inadequate, or the adhesion of the tiles to the subfloor is inadequate. As you walk over the floor the tiles move, the grout cracks. You may have a fight on your hands. Most contractors don't like to do their work all over again, but I suspect that is what needs to be done here. Cracking in a ceramic floor that is only one week old suggests to me that you had the great misfortune to hire somebody who really doesn't know about laying ceramic floors. It would probably be more than reasonable to ask them to do the job over, but I don't know if that would be advisable if you want to end up with a ceramic floor free of cracks. If they didn't know how to install your floor in the 1st place, then I wouldn't expect then to have studied up on the right way to do it after only one week. If it were me, I'd ask them to come in and remove the tiles and give me a full refund so that I can go find someone who knows what he is doing. Good Luck!
Q:I will be putting matching ceramic tile as molding....what is the best way to attach the ceramic molding to the wall?
Thin set will hold it to a sealed ( painted of primered wall) but it will slip and slide down the wall.If your not stacking it on other tile or it is a heavier type pc ( like a chair rail molding) Mastic , the pre mixed glue is a better way to adhere it with the proper amount of glue. Most all tiles will stay on with out support and dry to the point it will tear off dry wall when removed. Mastic can not be used in a wet area such as in a shower/tub. Can be used outside on the wall. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:We just bought a house and the bathroom tile looks terrible. Its not in bad shape, I just dont like the ugly floral pattern. Since we had to spend a lot of money on other projects in the house we dont have a lot to spend on re-tiling, The bathroom is small, about 5ftx4ft of floor, so I thought peelstick would be a good option. The tiles currently on the floor are peel and stick, should I remove them all before I apply the new ones? or can I just give them a good cleaning and lay the new tiles over them?
Removing the old ones is the correct way to go. Of course if this room doesn't receive much traffic, it would probably be ok to stick the new ones over the old ones. If you remove the old ones. Use an iron over wax paper on each tile to heat the glue up to remove. Then you will have to put a skim coat down to create new clean surface for the tiles to adhere to.
