There is a good chance that you may have to go down to stud as drywall tends to pretty much get trashed when you take tile off of it. When I remodel a bath and am re-laying all the tile, I ALWAYS take it to stud and start over. It saves time in the long run and in my business, time is money.

As you walk over the floor the tiles move, the grout cracks. You may have a fight on your hands. Most contractors don't like to do their work all over again, but I suspect that is what needs to be done here. Cracking in a ceramic floor that is only one week old suggests to me that you had the great misfortune to hire somebody who really doesn't know about laying ceramic floors. Q:I will be putting matching ceramic tile as molding....what is the best way to attach the ceramic molding to the wall?: Thin set will hold it to a sealed ( painted of primered wall) but it will slip and slide down the wall.If your not stacking it on other tile or it is a heavier type pc ( like a chair rail molding) Mastic , the pre mixed glue is a better way to adhere it with the proper amount of glue.Most all tiles will stay on with out support and dry to the point it will tear off dry wall when removed. Q:We just bought a house and the bathroom tile looks terrible. Its not in bad shape, I just dont like the ugly floral pattern. Of course if this room doesn't receive much traffic, it would probably be ok to stick the new ones over the old ones. If you remove the old ones. Use an iron over wax paper on each tile to heat the glue up to remove. Then you will have to put a skim coat down to create new clean surface for the tiles to adhere to.
