- Ceramic tile is just nicer than vynil.... period. If you are woried about the coldness of the tile. I noticed at Lowe's the other day a heater coil that was made to be put under the tiles to keep them nice and toasty for your feet. I spoke to the lady about them and she said that they were becoming fairly common place. I am tiling my laundry room, so I don't think I will heat it.

- Do you mean wood Laminate flooring? I would not put Laminate in the kitchen. We did 5 yrs. ago and last month the hot water pipe burst under the sink and believe me laminate does not like water. We had to have it all taken up, including the original vinyl flooring b/c that was soaked as well and mold was present. Never again. We are going with a vinyal floor tile that is textured and looks just like ceramic tile that is almost in-destructible. We chose an Appalachian slate look with blues and grays and a little but of red mixed in. Our contractor is going to lay them diagonally for a more dramatic effect. - Q: I have never laid tiles before and I would like to work from the ceiling down. In the shower I am going to use thin set. the rest of the bathroom is green board. which I intended to use a tile adhesive.the reason I wanted to go from ceiling down is I think the layout will look better

I was wondering isn't it better to put bathroom caulking instead of grout since it is flexible and it will last longer and provide better water resistance. Does grout make tile stronger or is caulking only applied on edges? Would I make mistake if I used bathroom caulking between tiles? Thanks
- You need to grout the spaces between the tiles and caulk the area where the tile meets the tub or shower basin. Use a grout sealer on the grout.
