- Q: Hi there, I was asked to make a room to look nice but here is the catch: I was given 2 red sofas with black, white, green and dots of orange pattern of lines and rectangles. The walls are light gray and the rest of the furniture is for office realy, and in 2 shades of gray. The tiles on the floor are gray too. What color of curtains are the best choice to make a harmony in this room with 7 windows on 3 walls?! Please advice! Thank you :)
- Try charcoal gray, with a wide red band running across them several inches down from the top, or up from the bottom. Other than that you can just pick one of the colors in the sofas, and use that. Stay away from patterns thouugh, because you already have a really busy pattern on the sofas. You might consider using throw rugs, or an area rug, in the same color as the curtains, and accessories like candles, vases, art glass bowls, etc. in some of the other colors from the sofas. If you can find a nice large abstract painting, or framed poster, in the right colors, that would help too.
- Q: Looking for vintage i.e. 1930-1950s pillows for my new retro lookin sofa. It's called dallas steele (which is a slate blue/grey color). In tryin to keep with my depression era vintage home decor I'm wonderin what color pillows for the sofa to use? - Bright orange or maybe lemon or raspberry cusions. Not all together but anyone of these colours would look good. If you have towels teatowels clothing or anything in these colours just place them on the sofa and stand back and see if you like the colour against the sofa before you buy the cusions. I know this sounds strange but if will give you a rough idea on what it would look like in the cusions. Patterns look better as well and add another dimention to the sofa If it is too much pattern just have one or two pattern cusions and a couple of plan ones with a colour picked out from the patten ones. Hope you understand my meaning. Also a good idea would be to google: home decour what colour goes with blue/grey sofa

- Get a strong piece of plywood and cover it with foam batting and stick it underneath the couch cushions. It should give enough support until you can replace it. Congrats on the new home.
- Q: We are 3mo away from moving into a 1-year temp rental, while we try to look for something more permanent. - I would sponge the area with a 1/2 white vinegar, 1/2 water and som3e bicarb soda added several times. This should remove the stains and smell. I can't see the point of buying new furniture just yet if you don't have to.

- Green. You can choose a nice wall paper that accommodates both colors. Perhaps with a floral pattern. If you use paint than a bit lighter on your walls and a deeper shade in your carpet.
- Q: i want to put new fabric on it..... i dont want to spend hundreds on reupholstering it.... how can i do it myself without burning a hole in my pocket.....
- If you like to sew and are pretty good at it... maybe you would like to just make a slip cover? I would go to the library and check out some books on reupholstering.... depending on the style it might be hard. My mom made a slip cover to cover the body of her sofa and then sewed pillow case around the loose pillows so it didn't look like a slip cover (like one piece of fabric draped over it.)
