- yes my mum had them and they lasted years, she had to get them becuase when i was younger and my bro and sister we used to jump on sofas and broke the springs! but she got these boards and worked fine, in fack im going to get some for my sofas as i cant afford a new sofa!

- For the weight of your sofa I suggest buying the forearm forklift from the As seen on TV web sight. I have used these moving many items and makes even the heaviest items seem much lighter. If you are having to turn and lift and contour your sofa to get it to fit into the doorway then I would go ahead and remove the sofa sleeper section just be sure you secure it from opening once removed...zip ties work great for that.

- You can try standing it on end, with the back towards the door opening. Push the back in, then rotate it around the door jamb. This only works if the length of the couch is less then the height of the door opening. Good luck.

- Leather will oxidize over time just like a penny. It will also ingest dyes from fabrics like blue jeans. Once this happens nothing will fix it. They are great looking in your roped off living room with the plastic covers on the shades but not very practical for everyday use. The better leather sofas will have a maintenance and warranty but just for the frame. We're talking the several thousand dollar ones. Leather needs to be conditioned to hold it's moisture and cleaned. It is highly susceptible to damage from UV rays.

The other issue is that the door is 30-31 inches wide and most furniture heights and depths are bigger than this. - It came with the legs off and fit through our apartment door. I don't remember the exact dimensions of the door but we had to take the legs off again before moving. It still looks new, two years later. It is microfiber and we've cleaned chocolate off it (granted, it was only a tiny spot). It was about $50-100 more than the sofas at Ikea but worked for us b/c we lived 3 hours away from Ikea. Craigslist is a good idea. Check the garage sale category too- you could get lucky! Have you posted a wanted ad? I haven't had any luck with local thrift stores. I must not frequent them on the right days. Sometimes Target has decent looking leather like furniture.
